Obituary - Cashton Leeton Shoemaker

Cashton Leeton Shoemaker, infant son of Chance Shoemaker and Savanna Allen, returned to his Heavenly Father too soon on February 25, 2021.

Private family services will be held at Cullen Funeral Home and Cashton will be laid to rest at Raymore Cemetery.

Cashton was preceded in death by his aunt, Makayla Allen; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Linda Shoemaker; and maternal great grandfather, Rick Byler. He leaves behind his loving parents, Chance Shoemaker and Savanna Allen; paternal grandparents, Lisa Byler and Jeff Allen; maternal grandparents, Lacie Wilken and Cort Shoemaker; maternal great grandparents, Susan Higgins, Kevin Higgins, Sharon Mowry, Rick Allen (Connie), and Cheryl Duncan; and great-great grandmother, Jan “Grams” Brown.

UTV Accident in Henry County

On 2/27/21 around 7:30pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County along with Henry County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a UTV accident on NE 501 Road just south of State Route YY in rural Henry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2020 Polaris Ranger driven by 36 year old Chance W. Barnhart of Clinton, Missouri ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned, partially ejecting the driver. 

Mr. Barnhart sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The UTV received minor damages and it was driven from the scene of the accident.  


Obituary - Bruce Michael Mitchell

Bruce Michael Mitchell, 67, of Blue Mound, Kansas died Saturday, February 27, 2021 at St. Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Bruce was born June 23, 1953 in Moran, Kansas to Lloyd Gene and Betty Jo (Northway) Mitchell. He attended schools in Blue Mound and graduated from Blue Mound High School with the class of 1971. 

Bruce was a farmer through and through. He enjoyed the hard work, helping his neighbors, and working on tractors. Bruce was a collector of coins and scales. When his health allowed he enjoyed traveling in his travel trailer. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson, John Carl West. Survivors include his son, Joshua Bruce Mitchell; and two daughters, Kamie Jo Mitchell and Gayla Rae West and husband Les; two sisters and their husbands, Jodi and Phil Johnson and Donna and Larry McCormick; 13 grandchildren, Morgan Willis and husband Alex, Chyanne Guffy, Tessa Mitchell, Triston Mitchell, Taylor Mitchell, and Zoey Mitchell, Richard Hodges, Dylan Hodges, Shayla West, Blaine West, Nathan West, David West, and Molly West; and 7 great-grandchildren, Renlee, Rhyatt, Jonathan, Eastan, Rylie, Elliyhanna, and Greysynn; and one uncle and his wife, Donald and Myrtle Northway.

Individual Respects and Guest Registry will be from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory, Mound City Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the Mound City Chapel. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Centerville, Kansas.
