Updated Obituary - Jeremy Scott Taylor
Jeremy Scott Taylor was born June 15, 1973 in Killeen, TX at Ft. Hood to Donald Edward Taylor and Anita Marie (Brooks) Taylor. He passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 1, 2021 in Calhoun, MO.
After spending his first half dozen years globetrotting around the globe as an Army brat, his family settled in Calhoun Missouri. Jeremy would be raised in Calhoun, MO and graduate from Calhoun High in 1991. While growing up, Jeremy was never without a ball in his hands and that carried through his childhood earning him top honors in baseball and basketball and an opportunity to play ball at Missouri Valley College.
After graduating Jeremy moved to the Kansas City area and to start a career at Western Blue Print where he would go on to spend over 10 years starting out as a delivery driver to Vice President and managing the business through an acquisition takeover.
In 1997 Jeremy married Rachel Williams and they had two sons, Jacob Donald Taylor and Nicholas Anthony Taylor.
Jeremy's greatest passions were his family and sports. Having KC Chiefs season tickets with family and friends created wonderful memories of Sunday's for almost two decades. When not cheering for the Chiefs and Royals you could find him enjoying Jayhawk basketball games or watching and playing golf. He enjoyed many rounds of golf with the "old farts and young punks" over the years.
In 2015 Jeremy moved back to Calhoun to be near family and friends. Whether enjoying shared stories around the card table or bonfire and reconnecting with old friends, he found comfort in being back home. Jeremy was most proud of his sons, Jacob & Nicholas; bragging about them every chance he got.
He is proceeded in death by his father Donald Edward Taylor, paternal grandparents James Donald Taylor and Eva Pauline (Jacobs) Taylor, maternal grandparents Cecil Eldon Brooks and Eula Marie (Utt) Brooks. Great grandparents Edward Porter Jacobs and Grace May (Piersee) Jacobs, Herbert Taylor and Georgia Elizabeth (Jackson) Taylor, Noah Webster Utt and Edythe Leona (Oglesby) Utt, William Elza Brooks and Mattie Norris (McFarland) Brooks and Edith Lorena (Williams) Brooks and an Uncle, Robert Eldon Brooks.
He is survived by his sons, Jacob Donald Taylor and Nicholas Anthony Taylor; his mother Anita ( Brooks) Marriott (Chuck), his siblings Angie Dittmer (David), Amy Andreasen (Chris), Josh Marriott (Kelly), Shane Marriott and Jamie Marriott and step mother Cheryl, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and extended family and friends that will miss him greatly.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Calhoun Baptist Church, Calhoun, Mo. Pastor Mark Abney will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. The register book will be available for signing 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday and Friday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial gifts to the Jeremy Taylor memorial fund to assist with funeral costs. Donations may be left at the funeral home.

What was that?
Interestingly, this is the second or third time over the last few months a similar explosion has been heard around Butler. No clues as to origin.
