Butler Police Department seeking public assistance

The Butler Police Department is attempting to locate 24 year old Kyle Boulais of Butler in reference to a theft investigation.

The Butler Police Department has taken numerous theft reports this last week around town. Storage sheds and vehicles seem to be the popular places to break into for local thieves.

Please lock your vehicle and take all valuables out of them also check your storage sheds frequently.

Police chase ends in arrest in St. Clair County

On March 4th, Zachery Bly, 21, Kansas City, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on 6 Clay County Failure to Appear warrants, and a St. Clair County warrant for a Felony charge of Resisting/Interfering with Arrest For a Felony, and a Felony charge of Assault - 2nd Degree- Special Victim. 

The total bond for the Clay County warrants was set for $29,100.00 cash only and the bond for the St. Clair County warrant was set at $15,000.00 cash only.

The arrest was made when information was given by a Polk County citizen had witnessed the vehicle Zachery was the driver of, stealing mail from mailboxes, and fled from the scene. 

Upon being stopped by St. Clair County deputies, Zachery drove off and crossed over north into the south bound lanes. At this time, he drove at a high rate of speed into oncoming traffic, while deputies attempted to get ahead of him to warn drivers of the danger. 

Zachery crossed over the lanes multiple times, ramming a patrol vehicle, and eventually rolled his vehicle while attempting to cross the median on 13 Highway, North of A Highway and C Highway Junction. During the investigation, it appeared he was stealing mail between Kansas City and Springfield. 

Sheriff Hilty praises the deputies and their quick thinking in trying to warn motorists of the dangerous situation. Anyone who may have encountered this subject traveling at them are encouraged to call the Sheriff's Office.




Flood Watch in effect Friday through Saturday

After thunderstorms last night, a quieter and cooler day is expected today with highs in the mid 50s to near 60. 

However, rain will move back into the area on Friday with several rounds of showers and a few thunderstorms expected to continue through the weekend. 

A flood watch is in effect Friday through Saturday for areas south of I-70 where another 2 to 4 inches of rain will be possible on top of the 1 to 3 inches that fell over those areas last night.

Obituary - Pamela Lynn Anne Pettine

Pamela Lynn Anne Pettine, age 51, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Monday, March 8th at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Pamela's wishes were to be cremated.

Obituary - Edna M. (Christoph) Fairchild

Edna M. Fairchild, 93, of Pleasant Hill, departed this life, Monday, March 8, 2021, at the St. Luke's Hospice House.

Cremation has been accorded under the care of Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

A celebration of Edna's life will be held later this year.

Stolen dump truck in Henry County

STOLEN VEHICLE -- 1985 MACK DUMP TRUCK, blue in color, bearing no registration @ the time of theft.

Vehicle was taken from the 1000 block of NW O Hwy (Norris area) sometime between 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9th through 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10th, 2021, unknown direction of travel.

Obituary - Terry Anthony Boyle

Terry Anthony Boyle, age 65, Centerville, Kansas passed away Thursday March 4, 2021. He was born on October 1, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas the son of Clarence and Rebecca Anthony Boyle. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Ray on August 15, 1981 in Merriam, Kansas. Terry obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Internet Technology. 


He worked at night and went to school during the day at Mid America Nazarene University. He was preceded in death by his mother. Terry is survived by his wife, Carolyn, father, Clarence , two brothers, Randy Boyle and Christopher Boyle, and a sister Angela Boyle.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm Saturday March 13, 2021 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.
