Obituary - Mary Lou Warren

Marilyn Warren, 86 of Adrian, Missouri passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Butler Center for Rehabilitation. Cremation, with private family services to be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Mullinax Funeral home, Butler (660-679-0009). Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mary Lou Warren was born April 1, 1934 in Stanton, Kansas to George and Nellie Burnette Begshaw. She was united in marriage to James Warren. Mary lived most of her life in the Pleasant Hill, Missouri area before relocating to Adrian, Missouri.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, sister Edith Mason, and brothers, Donald Begshaw, George Begshzw, and Leonard Begshaw.

She is survived by her daughter Dee Reynolds, son Steven Lane, daughter Sandra Trumpeter, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Harry Lee Raybourn, age 90 of Butler, Missouri died Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at Medicalodge of Butler. He was born July 23, 1930 to James Harry and Rosa Elsa Stevener Raybourn in Appleton City, Missouri.

Harry is survived by one son, Straton Raybourn and wife Kim of Appleton City, Missouri; one daughter, Cheri Simms and husband Scott of Butler, Missouri; one brother, Fred Raybourn and wife Diane of Cedarvale, Kansas; two sisters, Julia Ann Bock of Appleton City, Missouri and Charlene Haynes of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Raybourn on April 6, 2020; one son, Harry Edward Raybourn in 2004; one grandson, Payton Dale Raybourn in 2007; one daughter-in-law, Krystal Kay Seider in 2001; two brothers, W. B. Raybourn and Straton De Raybourn; two brothers-in-law, Jim Bock and Jim Haynes; one sister-in-law, Georgia Raybourn; and two half-sisters.

Due to Covid, the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel respectfully asks that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing.



Name released in fire death near Adrian

The deceased individual found in the structure fire early in the morning of March 3, 2021 west of Adrian, Missouri is positively identified as Tonia R. Hart, 57 of Adrian. Identification procedures were completed earlier in the week, but time was given for notification of family members, and I appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Cause of death information is at this time incomplete, and I will provide those updates as they are finalized.

My thoughts and prayers remain with the family and friends.

Two arrested after stolen vehicle chase in Barton County

On March 11, 2021, officers responded to a motor vehicle theft that had just occurred at Wal-Mart in Lamar. 

The stolen vehicle had been located near 10th and Grand. Ruby C. Austen, 36, of Lamar, Mo, was located nearby, and an investigation determined she had been the passenger in the stolen vehicle. Officers were also able to determine that Darias M Davis, 28, of Kansas City, Mo, was the driver. 

He was located and, after foot chase, he was also taken into custody. The Barton County Prosecutor filed charges on both for Motor Vehicle Theft and they are being held in the Barton County Jail in Lieu of $2,500 bond.




One arrested in Lamar

On 03/10/21, Lamar Police officers responded to a report of a suspicious person behind the Lamar Travel Plaza. 

When officers arrived, they located Daniel K Avery, 35, of Des Moines, IA, in a Silver Saturn Vue with no license plates. As the officers investigated further, they discovered the vehicle was reported stolen in Des Moines, IA.

After arresting Mr. Avery, the officers also discovered methamphetamine and marijuana inside the vehicle. 

The department sent a request for charges to The Barton County Prosecutor and Mr. Avery was formally charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Possession of a Controlled Substance. 

Mr. Avery is being held at the Barton County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bond.

Obituary - Evelyn Nadean Cummings

Evelyn Nadean Cummings, 93, of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Golden Years Nursing Home. 

Services will be announced as soon as they are finalized. Interment will follow in Freeman Cemetery in Freeman, Missouri.

Obituary - Hayden Dixie Harris

Hayden Dixie Harris, 18, of Deepwater, Missouri (formerly of Harrisonville) passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 near Mt. Vernon, Missouri. 


A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 4:00 pm at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.
