Obituary - Donna B. (Uffelman) Knorr

Donna Belle Knorr, 87, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, March 25, 1934, in Seward, Nebraska, the daughter of Edmund Arnold and Esther Viola Amelia (Kottke) Uffelman. She departed this life, Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at the Saint Luke’s East Hospital, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, surrounded with love and family.

Donna was a 1952 Waco, Nebraska, High School graduate.

On July 4, 1953, she was united in marriage to Norman Paul Knorr in Waco. He preceded her in death on October 9, 2009.

Donna was a wonderful homemaker and stay-at-home mom. She was an active member of the Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasant Hill. She truly enjoyed spending time with her children grandchildren. She was a gifted baker and was an avid Yahtzee player.

Donna was also preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by two daughters, Marsha S. (and Graylan) Clark, and Brenda J. (and Nick Ederer), all of Pleasant Hill; four grandchildren, Sarah (and Brice) Barnaby, Abigail Clark, and Clint Ederer, all of Pleasant Hill, and Nicholas (and Lindsey) Ederer, of Monument, Colorado; four great grandchildren, Von Barnaby, Jaxon Barnaby, Lincoln Ederer, and Delaney Ederer; one brother, Jim (and Janice) Uffelman of York, Nebraska; and one sister, Connie Davis of York; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2021, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2021, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Reverend Robert Malone will officiate. Casket bearers are Brice Barnaby, Jaxon Barnaby, Von Barnaby, Nick Ederer, Clint Ederer, Lincoln Ederer, and Nicholas Ederer. Honorary casket bearer is Graylan Clark.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Amazing Grace Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

T-Storm Outlook Tuesday - Tuesday Night

Today and tomorrow will be warm and breezy with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

A storm system is expected to move into the region on Tuesday, and could lead to severe weather around the region.

Best chance storms capable of producing large hail and strong winds looks to be in the afternoon and evening hours on Tuesday

More junk found in Butler city lake

Around 6:30 pm, the Butler Fire Dept rescue team was called to the Butler city lake on a report of a car in the water. After a brief investigation, it was found that only a bumper, not an entire car, was submerged in the lake.

Which begs the question – how did it get there? At any rate it will serve as a reminder to report anyone you see throwing foreign objects into the lake.

And shame on whoever did put it in there.

Obituary - John Joseph Cikan

John Joseph Cikan, Retired Air Force Master Sergeant, 75, of Belton, MO passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021 at his home. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 17, 2021 at St. Sabina Parish in Belton, MO with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Belton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Salvation Army.

John was born July 24, 1945. His parents were Stanley and Mary (LoPresti) Cikan. John grew up in Brookfield, IL with three younger siblings. He joined the United States Air Force in 1963 and served in Georgia, Hawaii and Kansas before marrying Mary Ellen Kotek of Lyons, IL in 1970. John and Mary Ellen raised three children while stationed in Illinois, Missouri, South Carolina, The Netherlands, and New Jersey. John served 22 years in the Air Force including two tours in Vietnam and one in Guam. He came back to Belton, Mo and retired from the military in 1985. John then worked 20 years as a custodian for the Blue Valley School District.

Adopted as an infant, John was curious about his biological family. He felt blessed to learn about his biological mother and to be acquainted with additional siblings and extended family prior to his passing.

He is survived by Mary Ellen, his wife of 50 years; son Jeremy Cikan; daughters Julie van Eijndt (John) and Jamie Ayers (Steven); grandchildren Matthew Cikan (Taryn), Dustin Cikan, Cheyanne Cikan, Philip Cikan, Emily van Eijndt, Liliana van Eijndt, David Ayers, Zoe Ayers and Nathan Ayers; great grandchildren Cali Rae Cikan and Kaydence Cikan; sisters Marlene Keller, Cheryl Frakes, and Ramona Archuleta; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his biological mother Wilma Wyant; brothers Joseph Cikan and Scott Wyant; and sister Donna Kozar.

John loved God, his family, his country and sharing his life-stories with all. He is missed by many, especially those who called him Papa.
