Obituary - David Eugene Yoos

David Eugene Yoos, 64, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin due to complications of heart failure and diabetes. Dave was born October 21, 1956 in Pittsburg, KS to Ralph Eugene (Gene) Yoos and Norma (Pettibon) Yoos.

Dave was a 1975 graduate of Bronaugh R-7 High School. He was raised on the family farm and worked on the farm after high school. Later, he worked for a subsidiary of the Kansas City Southern Railroad in Kansas City, Missouri. During his Kansas City days, he loved his part time job selling concessions at the Royals /Kaufman Stadium and enjoyed his days watching the Big Leagues. Dave was a lifelong sports fan—football, basketball, and baseball especially. He loved family, friends, card playing, math, riddles, trains, and having fun.

David is survived by his son A.J. Yoos Verdusco; mother, Norma (Pettibon) Yoos; one brother, Lewis H. (Hank) Yoos (wife Michele); one sister, Norma Jean Yoos; niece and nephews, Sheena, Derrick, and Jared (wife Amber) Dickey; great nephew and niece Keyton and Jordyn Dickey. Also surviving are uncle, Bill D. Yoos, aunt, Madeline (Yoos) DeCuyper, and aunt, Margaret (Pettibon) Leatherman; and many beloved Yoos and Pettibon cousins and their families near and far.

David kept close contact with relatives, old schoolmates, and friends. You were his joy in life. Even as his health failed, he had a corny joke or a riddle to keep people guessing and smiling.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the McKill Chapel Cemetery in rural Bronaugh, MO. Friends may call from Tuesday morning until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Those who wish may contribute in his memory to the McKill Chapel Cemetery Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.

Betty Jo Cooley was born January 29, 1928 in Ballard, Missouri, the daughter of Ethel J. Andrews and Melvin Ray (Jake) Harbert. She passed on to be with her Lord on April 1, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, in the presence of her family. Betty graduated from Butler High School, Butler, Missouri in 1945. She was employed at Commerce Trust Bank Central Surety Insurance in Kansas City before marrying and having five children. Betty later worked for Kansas City Credit Bureau, Internal Revenue Service, Tension Envelope, and J.C. Penney’s.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters, Rhuama Reynolds and Faye Fisher; as well as her husband, Lawrence David Cooley Sr.; two sons, Randall Ray (Randy) Cooley and Lawrence David Cooley Jr.; her grandson, Gary Lee Cooley; and great-grandson, Levi James Cooley.

Betty is survived by her son, John Jerome Cooley Sr. and wife Carol of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; her daughter, Cynthia Jo Simmons of North Carolina; her daughter Rebecca (Gaye) Morgan and husband Kevin of Independence, Missouri; and 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Betty was a Christian lady and was a member of the Souls Harbour Assembly of God Church in Independence, Missouri for over 45 years. She loved the Lord and served in the women’s ministries group at the church for most of that time. Her family was always a top priority and she made gatherings at her home a place where very special memories were made. There will be special stories for many years to come when the family reminisces about their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is loved by many and will be truly missed.

Obituary - Alice Blanche Beseth

Alice Blanche (Moffett) Beseth, age 93, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 3, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving sons.

A visitation and viewing for friends and family will be held at Cullen Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Friday April 9th with a graveside service being held at 2:00 p.m. at Raymore Cemetery in Raymore, Missouri.

Alice Blanche Moffett was born in Liberty, New York on October 27, 1927 to Harold Maffett and Leah (Morris) Maffett. Alice retired from U.S. West Communications where she worked as a telephone operator.

In the Fall of 1950, she was joined in marriage with her late husband, Robert George Beseth on September 24th. Together they were blessed with three sons. The family started life in Liberty, New York and in 1964 moved to the Navajo Indian reservation where Bob taught housing construction. In 1972 Bob and Alice retired to Mesa Arizona. In 1999 Bob and Alice moved to Morningview subdivision in Raymore where Alice had many wonderful friends and neighbors. As a woman of faith, Alice was a member of the Lord of Love Lutheran Church in Belton, Missouri. In life she was very intrigued by politics, history, genealogy and enjoyed collecting ephemera. She was an elegant dresser. She loved learning and experiencing new things like operating a backhoe or toy drone and always enjoyed a thrill. Not much more than a month ago she could be witnessed exceeding the speed limit on 58 highway through Raymore in her 91 Cadillac. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as talking by phone to her nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband of over fourty-nine years, Robert Beseth; son Robert Beseth (Amy); parents, Harold and Leah Maffett; sister Dorothy Houghtaling; and sister Leah Studt.

She leaves behind her two sons, Jeff Beseth (Floresa) and Greg Beseth (Brenda); daughter-in-law Amy Beseth, sister, Ellen Lucas; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren, 4 nieces and 2 nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Lord of Love Lutheran Church in Belton.

Obituary - Bobby Gene Hankins

Bobby Gene “Bob” Hankins was born May 17th, 1947 in Macks Creek, Missouri to Clarence and Minnie (Creach) Hankins. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and mushroom hunting. He was a member of I.O.O.F odd fellows of Windsor and was the owner of Bob Hankins Heating & AC for over 50 years.

He preceded in death by his parents, his brother and one grandson.

Survivors include his wife Mary Hankins, of the home, 5 children; Betty Clemens of Windsor, Missouri, Debbie (Fred) Reynolds of Odessa, Missouri, Allen (Emma) Jones of Leeton, Missouri, David Jones of Clinton, Missouri, Bobbi Hankins of Windsor, Missouri, one brother; Jim (Patty) Hankins of Sedalia, Missouri, one sister; Wanda (Jerry) Baker of Sedalia, Missouri, 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
