The April Cruise Night 2021 has been rescheduled for Friday April 30th!

Come on out to Sonic Drive-In (1014 W. Fort Scott Street, Butler, MO) from 6-9PM and bring the whole family!

Enjoy an evening of all sorts of vehicles and don't forget to purchase your ticket(s) for a chance to win the 50/50 Raffle!

The more 50/50 Raffle tickets bought the larger the cash amount won by one lucky winner!

Obituary - Margie Bush Rhoades Hobbs

The funeral service for Margie will begin at 12:00 noon on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Hill & Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, Missouri.

Visitation will precede the service from 11:00 a.m. to Noon. Officiating at the service will be Pastor David Hill. Burial will be in Woodfin Cemetery, Foster, Missouri.

The family suggest memorial donations be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Appleton City, Missouri.

Margie Bush Rhoades Hobbs, age 90 departed this life on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the Appleton City Manor, with loving family present.

She was born on June 10, 1930 just outside of Worland, Missouri to Pearl (Oldham) and Willard D. Bush. Margie was the middle child of seven. Her siblings were Monty, Ardall, Vina May, Willard, Mattie and James.

In 1948, Margie was united in marriage to Everett Rhoades. This union was blessed with four sons, Donald, Harley, Tim and Perry.

In 1987 Margie was united in marriage to Jarrel Hobbs. Jarrel had two sones Kurt and Jason. Marge love Jay’s son’s very much.

Margie was a person of many talents. She was an incredibly talented writer, having written many songs, poems and prayers. At age 74, she wrote her first book titled “Mark of the Rose”. Her book is a story written from memories of Sunday Afternoon stories told by family and friends who lived during the 1890s. It is somewhat biographical in that the characters are based on real people and relatives. This book has been enjoyed by all who have read it. She paid to have the book printed herself. In 2002, she was chosen one of the best 100 poets in the United States, out of 8,000.

Another of Margie’s talents was painting. She had several hanging in her room in the nursing home. She gave many away to her most beloved friends. She taught many art classes in several places including the Golden Apple’s Senior Club in Appleton City.

Due to a fall and breaking her ankle, she moved into Countryside Estates and was never able to live on her own. When moving, she had to find a home for her beloved poodle, Honey-Bee. Honey-Bee went to live with Margie’s good friends, Don and Helen. They would take Honey-Bee for regular visits with Margie.

Margie’s best talent was sharing her love of the Lord with everyone around her. Most all her songs and poems are based on her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. When she moved into the Countryside Estates, she would conduct weekly Bible Studies both in the RFC and the Manor. She loved preparing for these studies. She always enjoyed going to the weekly church services that were brought into to the facility by various churches.

One of her favorite weekly activities was playing Bingo. She like making sure everyone got a prize. She especially enjoyed it when her Birthday Buddy would be the caller. She enjoyed plants and flowers. When she was able, she would help tend the flowers in the RCF garden.

Margie is survived by her four sons: Donald, Harley, Tim and Perry; her grandchildren: Timmy, Lissa, Amber, Kelly, Donna, Shane & Shanna Sowger, Justin and their children; her five great-grandchildren: Haley, Jesse, James, Hannah and Jackson; her brother James Bush; and her special friends: Pat & Yolanda Sowger, Norman & Judy Sapp, Don & Helen Paur and Pat Tippie.

Margie never met a stranger. She made friends wherever she went. She left her footprints in the hearts of many. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

Light Accumulating Snow Tuesday

Winter is back after today, so enjoy whatever Monday gives you.

We have some light snow moving in tonight, after midnight, but moving out around or perhaps before noon on Tuesday.

Also take care of those sensitive plants for Wednesday, as temperatures will be below freezing.

Winter's Last Gasp (Hopefully)

I don't know about all of you but I like my winter during winter. But here we are. Looks like a few inches, mainly on elevated & grassy surfaces late Monday night through Tuesday morning. Then Wednesday morning lows dip into the upper 20s across the area. Temperatures like could kill sensitive vegetation.
