Nevada man arrested in Bates County
On May 24th around 5:19 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 34 year old Michael D. Kohler of Nevada, Missouri.
Mr. Kohler was arrested for 1.) Two Vernon County Sheriff's Office Felony Warrants.
He was booked into the Bates County Jail and is currently being held on no bond.

Memorial Ceremony Event in Adrian
10am Saturday, May 29th at the Lt. Charles Garrison Veterans Memorial in Adrian, Missouri.
The keynote speaker will be Major General Levon Cumpton, our Adjutant General of the Missouri National Guard. The ceremony will be complete with music, POW/MIA remembrance ceremony, rifle salute, and live Taps.
Bleacher seating is available, but feel free to bring a lawn chair if you prefer. The current weather forecast looks good. (Should inclement weather occur, the rain date will be Monday, May 31.)

We came just short of the record of 10 consecutive days of rainfall. Showers this morning transition to isolated thunderstorms this afternoon north of the MO River.
A complex of strong thunderstorms moves in overnight WED into THU bringing heavy rain and strong winds. Strong storms return THU afternoon.

Obituary - David Alan Poage
David Alan Poage, age 61, La Cygne, Kansas passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021. He was born on February 28, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of William and Margot Kansteiner Poage.
He developed a love of mini bikes at an early age and turned that into a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles as an adult. He enjoyed rock and roll music especially guitar music. He was a member of the Rusty Zipper Club. After high school he spent time in various places in the south.
He eventually settled in La Cygne, Kansas where he had many friends. David never knew a stranger. He was a good man with a big heart and will be forever remembered and missed. He was preceded in death by his parents.
David is survived by a sister, Debi Houseman(Ron), companion, Janet Dick, nephew, Sam Houseman(Shelby), two great nephews, Abel and Bo, and a great niece, Berkley, extended family and friends.

IMPORTANT: The Board of Aldermen have finalized their procedure for recovering the massive fuel invoice that the City received during the 'Polar Vortex' in February.
The Board has decided that the City will cover $500,000, and that the additional dollars will be spread across approximately 8-months worth of utility bills.

Memorial Day service to be held Monday in Butler
The James P. Arnold Post 46, Butler, MO will be hosting Memorial Day Services on Monday, May 31, 2021. Location will be the veterans plot in the East Side of the cemetery in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Mo., at 11:00 am.
The speaker will be Leonard Redding of Butler.
We want to invite all who are interested in paying tribute to ALL veterans who have passed.
