House fire in Nevada

On June 15th around 2:30 p.m. the Nevada Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1407 N. Cedar Street in a home occupied by Logan Parsons.

When fire crews arrived on scene they knocked down the fire quickly with damages occurring to the siding of the home.

Fire crews spent 2 hours on scene of this fire and the cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. 

Mr. Parsons wasn't home at the time of this fire and no one was injured.



Obituary - Luther Van Doozer Bolton, Jr.

Luther Van Doozer Bolton, Jr., 77, Harrisonville, MO, formerly of Bloomfield, MO, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2021 at the Church of the Nazarene in Harrisonville. Inurnment will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO at a later date.

Luther was born April 12, 1944 in Kansas City, KS, a son of Luther Van Doozer and Lona Irene (Isaac) Bolton, Sr. He grew up in Nevada, MO. He was a U. S. Army veteran. Luther married Mary Foote on January 28, 1972. He was an over the road truck driver for 27 years before retiring in April, 2013 from Pullem Bros. Luther was an adventurer. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and “getting away”.

Luther was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings: Annie, Peggy, Jessie, Marvin, Richard and Bob. He is survived by his wife, Mary Bolton, of the home; one brother, Bill Bolton, Butler, MO; one sister, Nina Bolton, Butler, and many nieces and nephews.

Clinton Fire Department gets a new pumper truck



Clinton, Missouri Fire Department recently took delivery of a new Rosenbauer Custom Pumper! This pumper has a Waterous S100D-TC20C pump with 1500 GPM and a 500-gallon tank.

Linn County Kansas Sheriff's Office seeking public assistance



The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the publics assistance into an investigation of destruction of property.

The gray 2004 Dodge pickup pictured here was used to destroy multiple gates at Tanglewood Lakes during the early morning hours of June 16, 2021.

Obituary - Peggy Sue Greenlee

Peggy Sue Greenlee, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at the age of 85 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Peggy is survived by her son, Lyndon Greenlee and wife Pam; her grandchildren, Jennifer Greenlee and wife Marlene, Chadd Greenlee and wife Krista, Zachary Greenlee and wife Cristin, and Caty Hernandez and husband Anthony; and her 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Gladys Thompson; her sister, Shirley Ann Wait; her husband, David Greenlee; and her eldest son, Robin Greenlee.

Peggy Sue Thompson was born January 5, 1936 in Moundville, Missouri, where she was raised until she graduated from Nevada High School in 1954. She married David Greenlee on February 20, 1954, and together they had two children, Robin Allen and Lyndon Lee. Peggy was a hard worker and had many jobs, including working as a seamstress at Nelly-Don, a factory worker at Central State Press and Fram, and owning a furniture and mattress store with her husband. She worked at Boatman’s Bank and in the cafeteria at Nevada High School. She also worked alongside her husband at Nevada Speedway for 26 years and had a love for fast cars.

Peggy was known for her sense of style. She had a keen eye for interior design and was excellent at landscaping. She loved to travel, and she loved music. She was adventurous, fun, and forever young at heart. She will be greatly missed by many.

A visitation will take place at Ferry Funeral Home on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 10-11 am.
