In an effort to better represent the needs and interests of all area residents, a member of Representative Vicky Hartzler’s staff, Lauren Mann, will be available at the St. Clair County Courthouse to meet with you, listen to your concerns, and address any problems you may have with a federal agency. AC Athletic Boosters, Inc. will have a meeting on Sunday, June 27 at 6:30 in the high school commons room. This is their annual officer election. All 3 of the current officers have resigned. If no one shows up, or steps up, the booster club will dissolve. Booster club supports all of the student athletes when there is a need. Please join in and help the kids.

Obituary - Nicole Mallatt

Appleton City man escapes serious injury in Bates County rollover accident

On June 22nd around 12:35 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on Missouri 52 Highway at CR SE 14365 in rural Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 20 year old Cody D. Green of Appleton City, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a embankment causing the vehicle to overturn.

Mr. Green sustained minor injuries in this accident and he will seek treatment on his own at a later time.

The vehicle was totaled and towed by Bulldog Towing of Appleton City, Missouri.


Obituary - Terry Wayne Wood

Terry Wayne Wood, age 61, La Cygne, Kansas passed away Monday, June 21, 2021. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 17, 1959 the son of Dorval and Alice Teitz Wood. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Terry worked as a diesel mechanic. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Ledbetter on August 24, 1985 in Independence, Missouri.

Terry liked old cars, owning a 1967 Mustang, Harley Davidson motorcycles, hunting and watching westerns. He was a great storyteller and loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kelly Wood.

Terry is survived by his wife, Marilyn, two brothers, Lloyd Upham(Kathy), and James Wood, five sisters, Sherry Hutchison, Candice Faulkner(Gari), Deborah Tierney(Larry), Brenda Gambino, and Georgia Oshel, and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral service will be held 1 pm Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the Star Valley Cemetery, La Cygne, Kansas. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 pm Saturday, June 26 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Obituary - Dylan Alan Querry

Dylan Alan Querry, age 23, Prescott, Kansas died Monday, June 21, 2021. He was born in Overland Park, Kansas on September 23, 1997 the son of Brent Alan and Rosie Louise(Williams) Querry. Dylan enjoyed riding his motorcycle, listening to music, and spending time with family, especially his sons, and friends. 

He is survived by three sons, Zeke Querry, Zyrek Querry, and Riot Querry, father, Brent Querry, mother, Rosie Querry, two sisters, Destinie Querry and Trista Querry, paternal grandmother, Beverly Smith, maternal grandmother, Darlene Capps, extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 am Friday June 25, 2021 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial in the Star Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, June 24 at the La Cygne Chapel.

Harold Oliver Grainger, age 86 of Butler, Missouri passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 at his home in Butler surrounded by his family. He was born August 5, 1934 to Lester Golden and Bonnie Newman Alexander Grainger in Parkville, Missouri.

Harold is survived by his wife, Barbara Grainger of Butler, Missouri; two sons, Mike Grainger and wife Pam of Butler, Missouri and Mitch Grainger of Foley, Alabama; two daughters, Lisa Evans and husband Bobby and Mitzi Grainger and Tux all of Butler, Missouri; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Jessica Evans; two great-grandchildren, Shakayla Grace Evans-Barton and Jayden Bennett Carmichael; two brothers, James L. “Jim” Grainger and Carl Grainger; and one sister, Edith Rinehart.
