It's officially CARB week at Nevada Speedway!!

E-Mods will be having their own race this Saturday July 10th!!!
**Lakeside Speedway or I-35 Speedway rules are welcome for this race.**

ALSO SPRINT CAR FANS... The Midwest Lightning Sprints will also be making their only appearance of the season this Saturday!! We are expecting a good turn out of these guys!

**THERE WILL ALSO BE A MEET & GREET DURING INTERMISSION IN THE NORTH PIT AREA WITH THE LIGHTNING SPRINT DRIVERS!!**

**CARB WILL ALSO BE HAVING ACTIVITIES FOR THE KIDS THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT!!**

Along with these two guest classes, our six weekly classes will be in action for another points night of racing!!

Two injured in Linn County Kansas rollover accident

On July 4th around 10:35 p.m. the Kansas State Highway Patrol and Linn County Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on US 69 Highway near mile marker 99.6 in rural Linn County.

The Kansas State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 Ford F-150 driven by 64 year old Douglas Dishman of Shawnee, Kansas swerved to miss a deer in the roadway and drove through the median before returning to the road and overturning several times, coming to rest in a ditch.

Mr. Dishman along with a passenger in his vehicle 59 year old Laura Duncan of Shawnee, Kansas both sustained serious injuries in this accident and both were transported to Kansas City area hospitals for treatment.

The truck was totaled and towed from the scene of this accident by RB Towing and Recovery.

Cruise Night tonight at the Fishing Dock in Archie

Hope you all had a great 4th of July Weekend! We are open and serving breakfast already. Monday is Fried Chicken Day 11am- 9pm or until we run out. Don’t forget tonight is Cruise Night! Bring in your ride to be seen or just come look. Either way, just come!!

Clinton man seriously injured after striking deer on a motorcycle

On July 4th around 11:00 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Henry County along with Henry County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle motorcycle accident on Route PP at SE CR 200 in rural Henry County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2007 Harley Davidson Motorcycle driven by 53 year old James E. Quigg was southbound on Route PP when he struck a deer in the roadway.

Mr. Quigg sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported by Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

Herrman’s Historical Happenings week of July 7

1894 A windstorm damages buildings at Stumptown (Southeast part of Section 18 in Pleasant Gap Township).

1896 A proposal to make the town of Hume one mile square passes.

1916 Rockville constable, D.G. West, brings four men, charged with stealing, to the county jail in Butler.

1927 Tuckers Road Show begins a three night stay at Amsterdam.

1929 Workmen excavating under the Missouri State Bank building, find the walls to an old vault, from when the building was built in 1888. They also find a dust covered money bag with something metallic in it, which turns out to be rusty nails.

1932 Open house is held at the new Butler Memorial Hospital, Maple and College streets.

1947 Miss Doris Jean Burke, 14, falls from a car driven by Mrs. Lavera Simpson and is run over and killed 5 miles east of Adrian.

1984 The town and community of Ballard, in Spruce Township, holds its centennial celebration. It was named for Judge J.W. Ballard, who owned and lived on a large farm, 3 miles east of Ballard.

1990 The population of Bates County is 15,025

1999 The population of Bates County is 16,061

2000 The price of a gallon of gasoline at Butler pumps is $1.60 for regular unleaded and $1.61 for super unleaded.

2000 Dr. William Hayne agrees to serve as medical director of the Adrian Rural Health Clinic. He replaces his former partner, Robert Strobach, who retired recently.




Obituary - Stella Lee (Stamper) Vaughn

Stella Lee (Stamper) Vaughn, 88, Adrian, MO, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 02, 2021 at Medicalodge Nursing Home in Butler, MO, surrounded by her family. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO with visitation from 10:00-11:00. 

Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Adrian Rural Fire Department or the Adrian Park Board.

A complete obituary will be posted when information is available.
