Henry County Health Center confirms 18 new positive cases of COVID-19

The Henry County Health Center (HCHC) has received confirmation there are 18 new positive cases of COVID-19.

This brings the total number of confirmed positive cases in Henry County to 2160.

All contact tracing has commenced and all parties that have had close contact are being notified. HCHC continues to encourage residents to practice social distancing, washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or more, and to remain home if you are sick.

The CDC continues to recommend that individuals to wear a face covering when you are in public, and are unable to social distance, to assist in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Heads up Peculiar Citizens

In regards to the citizens of Peculiar concerns about the city lake, the parks department has started discussions with the MDC Fishery / Aquatics Biologists In regards to moss, weeds, depth of lake, and fish population within the city lake.

Thank you for expressing your concerns and we are looking forward to working with the MDC department and citizens to come up with possible solutions.

Welcome Kara!

Help us welcome Kara Mullen, PT on her first day joining the BCMH Rehabilitation Services team! Kara is a recent graduate of Southwest Baptist University where she earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

She is also an athletic trainer, so she has at least three years' experience as an ATC and hopes to serve the student athlete population with her skills.

Last year, she completed clinical requirements at our facility, gaining inpatient experience, along with outpatient neurological rotation and a general outpatient rotation with emphasis on treating ballet dancers.

Kara is a great addition to our staff of physical therapists: Jeremy Jones, Niki Hilgenberg, Brittany Booker, and Scott Ridings.


Butler City Council closed to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions

The Butler City Council meeting tomorrow night will be closed to the public. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and precautionary measures.

Obituary - Jerrold R. Miller

Jerrold R. Miller, 75, Ridgedale, MO (formerly of Walker, MO) passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Fayetteville, AR following a lengthy illness. Jerry was born July 29, 1946 in Torrington, WY to Dale E. and Erma M. (Morrison) Miller. He married Susan Gordon on December 17, 1973 in Miami, OK and she preceded him in death on May 3, 2010. He has resided in Ridgedale, MO for the past several years with his companion Patty Gross.

Jerry graduated from El Dorado Springs High School Class of 1964. Following high school he served in the United States Navy from 1964-1967. Upon his return from the service he worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver. Jerry drove a truck all of his life. He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, camping, and being with family. Jerry was a member of the VFW in Nevada.

He is survived by two children: a daughter, Chastity Gillen (Danny), Walker, MO; a son, Roger Wayne Miller (Sherri), Douglasville, GA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale Miller, Nevada, MO; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Susan, he was preceded in death by two sons, Troy Miller, and Travis Miller; his parents; a brother, Max Vaughan; and a sister, Connie Couch.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Moore Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Memorials are suggested in his memory to the Wounded Warriors Project c/o Ferry Funeral Home.


Cass County Health Department Weekly Update August 2nd

Cass County Health Department Weekly Update COVID-19 Case and Vaccine Data Released Harrisonville, MO (August 2, 2021) –

Cass County has released its weekly report documenting COVID-19 impacts and vaccination efforts to combat the pandemic. The data is through the week ending July 31, 2021.

There were 301 confirmed (PCR tests) cases in Cass County in the last week, up from 185 cases the week prior. In addition, there were 70 probable cases (antigen tests and other cases), down from 101 cases the week prior. 86 individuals were notified of a potential COVID-19 contact, up from 59 such notifications the week prior.

Overall, Cass County has reported 8,554 cases, about 8,070 cases per 100,000 residents. The county has reported 92 deaths (87 per 100,000 residents), none in the past week.

The Cass County Health Department administered 145 vaccine doses last week, up from 117 doses the prior week. They have now administered 10,059 first doses and 9,551 second doses of COVID-19 vaccines through July 10th. The department uses the Pfizer (age 12 and up) and Moderna (age 18 and up) vaccines.

In addition to Health Department administered vaccines, other entities are offering vaccines to county residents. According to the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) Data Hub which uses Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data, 43.6 percent of Cass County residents have initiated vaccinations and 37.5 percent have completed vaccinations. 70.5 percent of residents 65 and older, and 46.9 percent of residents 18 and older have been fully vaccinated.

The Health Department will continue to offer vaccinations by appointment from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at their clinic, 300 S. Main Street, Harrisonville, MO 64701. For an appointment, residents can call 816-380-8425. Clinics open to the public are also scheduled as follows:

Obituary - Walter “Jim” James Tweed

Walter “Jim” James Tweed, age 81, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021, in Kansas City, Missouri.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. followed by burial at Raymore Cemetery.

Jim was born in Springfield, Missouri, on October 8, 1939, to Horace “Jim” James Tweed and Lorena Fay (Reed) Tweed. Jim grew up with one brother and after graduating high school, served his country in the United States Army. Soon after his honorable service, Jim was joined in marriage with his late wife Sandra Sue Tweed on March 29, 1964. Together they were blessed with three sons. He enjoyed anything that involved spending time with his family and was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan. For many years, Jim and Sandra were faith members of the First Baptist Church of Raymore, now Fellowship Church Raymore Campus. Even up until his passing, Jim was attending Sunday classes.

Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Sandra Tweed; and parents, Jim and Lorena Tweed.

He is survived by his three sons, Michael Tweed (Lensi), Mark Tweed (Beth), and Kevin Tweed (Kirstie); brother, Edward “Duke” Tweed; and three grandchildren, John Tweed, Will Tweed (Mallory), and Lauren Tweed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Fellowship Church Raymore Campus, 116 S. Washington Street, Raymore, Missouri 64083.
