Obituary - Elsworth Herman Lee
Funeral services for Elsworth Lee will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. No visitation. Elsworth Herman Lee, age 90 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Medicalodge in Butler. He was born June 19, 1931 to Herman Frank and Anna Marie Lindenman Lee in Rockville, Missouri.
Elsworth is survived by a brother, Gilbert Lee of Butler, Missouri; an aunt, Pearl Wilson of Butler, Missouri; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Two from Nevada injured in rollover accident
On August 7th around 7:40 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with Vernon County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident around 5 miles south of Nevada on F Highway.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1992 GMC C1500 driven by 22 year old Jenna N. Gillund of Nevada, Missouri was westbound when she traveled off the roadway and struck a fence before overturning.
Jenna N. Gillund and a passenger in her vehicle 22 year old Kadence Hadden of Nevada both sustained minor injuries in this accident and both were transported to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The truck was totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by Garwood's Wrecker Service of Nevada.

Obituary - Russell “Rusty” Leon Cotton Jr.
Russell “Rusty” Leon Cotton Jr., age 57, of Cleveland, Missouri passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021.
A celebration of Rusty’s life will be held with a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083.
Rusty was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 1, 1964 to Russell Leon Cotton Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (James). He was raised in Raymore, Missouri through elementary school. His family then moved to Harrison County, where he attended junior high and high school, and started his law enforcement career. He was joined in marriage with his wife, Paula (Stowell) in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 4, 1996. Together they were blessed with two daughters. He completed his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice at Missouri Western State University. For over thirty years, Rusty has served his community as a law enforcement officer, most recently serving with Metropolitan Community Colleges. Rusty was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos, the Kansas City Royals, and Garth Brooks. Earlier in life he enjoyed agriculture and hunting, and was a good marksman.
Rusty was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, a maternal aunt, and a paternal uncle.
He leaves behind both of his parents: Russ Cotton of Branson, and Mary Ury of Blythedale; his loving wife, Paula Cotton; two daughters, Callista and Ryanna Cotton; brother, Rodney Cotton (Missie); many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Battle of Island Mound State Historic Site hosts public information meeting Aug. 21st
The public is invited to share comments and ask questions about the park and its operations. Representatives from the park will be present to provide information and to answer questions.
Input from the public is important to Missouri State Parks. These informational meetings, which are being held in all state parks and historic sites, help create two-way communication with the public. The meetings give staff the opportunity to let people know the current status and future plans for the park or historic site, and they offer visitors the opportunity to comment on the facilities. Norma L. Meador, age 89, of Belton, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a burial at Cleveland Cemetery in Cleveland, Missouri.
Norma was born in Lynn County, Kansas on February 8, 1932 to Glen E. Miller and Laura Rhynerson. Shortly after graduating high school, Norma was joined in marriage with her late husband, Donald L. Meador Sr. on July 19, 1952 in Bentonville, Arkansas. Together they were blessed with three children. Norma worked at home raising her children and caring for her family. In life she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and cherished the time spent with family.
Norma was preceded in death by her loving husband Donald L. Meador, Sr.; parents, Glen E. Miller and Bessy E. Miller; daughter in law, Beatrice E. Meador; and grandson, Marvin Troy Shaw.
She is survived by her three children, Donald L. Meador, Jr., Thomas R. Meador, and Tina D. Hickam (Danny); brother Eugene Miller (Bonnie); two sisters, Marilyn Kay Jenkins and Virginia Glaze; eleven grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Troy Shaw Memorial Scholarship Fund. Checks should be made out to Belton Educational Foundation with Troy Shaw Memorial Scholarship Fund in the memo.

Obituary - Edgar "Ed" Glenn Harvey Emery
Edgar "Ed" Glenn Harvey Emery of Lamar, Missouri, left the brokenness of our world and became fully whole with his Heavenly Father on Friday, August 6, 2021, at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. By God's grace he was surrounded by his loving family and upheld in the prayers and love of many in his final moments on this earth. He was 71 years old.
Ed was born on May 25, 1950, the son of Frank and Helen (Faith) Emery and grew up in Nevada, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla and moved to New Orleans to work in the petroleum industry. It was there he met and fell in love with Rebecca Ann Meredith, whom he married on June 3, 1978. They went on many adventures together and included their children as they were born, continuing to adventure and travel together over the past several years.
Ed spent 22 years working for Texaco. His engineering career moved him from place to place and God used him mightily in the lives of everyone he encountered. He left to move back to Missouri in 1994 to raise his children and be closer to his aging parents. Ed never truly stopped working and pursued every endeavor with the energy and commitment, working as to the Lord, not for men.
Ed was passionate about his relationship with his Lord, his love and care for his family, and his desire to serve his state and his country. He served in the Missouri State Legislature for 16 years and was respected by all.
Ed is survived by his incredibly beloved wife, Rebecca, his daughter, Elizabeth, his sons and daughters-in-law; Samuel and Melony Emery, Daniel and Madison Emery, and Paul and Laura Emery, and granddaughters: Irene, Lucille and yet unborn Baby Girl Emery. He is also survived by his sister Leesa (Emery) Drury and husband Tom, and their children and grandchildren, and nephew Jon Emery and his family. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Terry, Randy, Jay and Mike Emery.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Lamar, Missouri, with burial to follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar, MO.
