Storms are expected to develop this evening across northwest Missouri. These storms will have the potential to be severe with damaging winds, frequent lightning, and large hail the main threats however, localized flash flooding and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Update: Two injured in Bates County crash
On August 19th around 5:41 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies and Bates County EMS responded to a two vehicle accident at CC Highway and CR. 9002 in rural Bates County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1993 Ford driven by 26 year old Nicholas G. Plumb of Lake Chaparral, Kansas struck the passenger side of the 2004 Chrysler driven by 35 year old Kimberly D. Adcock of Butler.
A three year old juvenile male in the Chrysler along with a passenger in the Ford truck 38 year old Jacky R. Whitehead of Lake Chaparral, Kansas both sustained moderate injuries in this accident and both refused medical treatment at the scene of the accident.
Both vehicles were totaled and towed privately.

Obituary - Roy Lee Purdy Sr.
Roy Lee Purdy Sr., age 65, of Belton, Missouri passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at home.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Raymore Cemetery in Raymore, Missouri.
Roy was born at Truman Medical Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri on January 25, 1956 to Crameley Young and Dorothy (Purdy) Young. Roy spent most of his working life as a mechanic working on vehicles. He was a man of Christian faith attending the Assembly of God in Belton. Roy enjoyed trips to the casino and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sherry Sue Purdy; and parents, Crameley and Dorothy Young.
He is survived by his loving children, Roy Purdy Jr. and Brandy Purdy; three brothers, Jerry, Dave, and Rob Young; sister, Pamela Young; and six grandchildren, Mistin Gregg, Justin Gregg, Kaetilynn Rivira, Jaiden Dehghani, Kaeden Purdy, and Abigayl Purdy.

Two vehicle accident in Bates County
The Bates County Sheriff's Office along with the Adrian Fire Department and Amsterdam Fire Department is on scene of a two vehicle accident at CC Highway and CR 9002 in rural Bates County at this time.

Obituary - Mary Jane Ballard
Mary Jane (Falch) Ballard, age 78, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the DeSoto Assembly of God (12635 State Route 21 DeSoto, Missouri).
Mary Jane Falch was born on April 22, 1943 to Otto & Hilda Falch in St. Louis, MO. She was the fifth of six children.
Jane met the love of her life, Reggie Ballard, in 1965 through an introduction by Reggie’s older brother, Curt & her best friend, Brenda. They were united in holy matrimony on Sept. 3, 1966. (Just being shy of 55 years.) To that union, 2 daughters, Mindy (Brookings, SD) and Julie (Rod) Balke (Clinton, MO) were added.
Jane was a mighty woman of faith & prayer warrior. She stood by her husband, Reggie, faithfully as they ministered together in different pastorates throughout the United States for over 50 years.
The light of Jane’s life were her three grandchildren, Emily, Matt, and Jake. She loved to play games, do crafts, and sew for them. G Money would light up when the grandkids entered the room.
Jane is survived by her immediate family and 2 sisters, Betty Falch & Ruth (Bill) Keath (DeSoto, MO), 2 Sister-in-laws, Lou Falch (Fredericktown, MO), Rosanna Falch (DeSoto, MO) & a host of nieces & nephews and in-laws.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, and her 3 brothers, Walter, Alvin, David, and a niece, Susie. She is also preceded by her Father & Mother-in-law, a sister-in-law, and a nephew, Jeff.

Nutrition Tribe & Boutique Fundraiser
The Nutrition Tribe & Boutique at 54 E. Main Street in Adrian is doing a fundraiser for this beautiful family from Adrian. All day tomorrow Friday August the 20th and Saturday the 21st. ALL tips will go to them. If you haven’t heard their story here it is.
Jessica Paul and Cole Reeves tested positive a couple weeks ago for COVID. Where as Cole was suffering all the symptoms and Jessica was only showing mild. She took a turn for the worse and her o2 was down to 87 so they decided to make a trip to the ER. Upon arrival Cole was asked to leave the hospital leaving Jessica on her own. Jessica is 20 weeks pregnant. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted to the hospital.
She was transferred from Golden Valley to Centerpoint where she is currently on a ventilator fighting for her and baby Z ‘s life. Cole has not been able to work since testing positive. They also have two other babies to worry about. All my prayer warriors, this family need needs lots of prayers!

Obituary - Carolyn Sue Mock
Carolyn Sue Mock, 69, Nevada, MO passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at her home in Nevada following a brief illness. Carolyn was born December 25, 1951 in Butler, MO to Howard K. and Bernice M. (Heiman) Griggs. She was united in marriage to Gary D. Mock on February 7, 1970 in Stockton, MO and he survives of the home.
Carolyn was raised in Rockville, MO and graduated from St. Francis Academy in Nevada in 1969. A homemaker all her life, she loved her family, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Carolyn enjoyed sewing, takin care of her plants, feeding and watching her birds.
In addition to her husband Gary, she is survived by four children: Kellie Johnson (Brantley), Richards, MO, Kevin Mock (Buffie), Stilwell, KS, Gerald Mock (Katie), Diamond, MO, Theresa Vaughn, Nevada, MO; ten grandchildren, Colten, Chelsie, Chealea, Caitlin, Gavin, Dawson, Addyson, Clayton, Rhyan, and Cale; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Dean Griggs (Brenda), Bolivar, MO, Donna Spangler, Stockton, Helen Pyle (Larry), Stockton, and Robert Griggs (Lisa), Fair Play, MO; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Linda, and a brother Gene Griggs.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.

Obituary - William Allen "Bill" Shadden
William Allen "Bill" Shadden, age 75, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Wednesday August 18, 2021. He was born on February 13, 1946 in Fort Scott, Kansas the son of Floyd and Mary Gruver Shadden. He was united in marriage to Fanchion Joles on October 5, 1964 in Fort Scott.
He owned and operated Shadden Septic Tank Cleaning. Bill was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. He enjoyed stock car racing and NASCAR.
He liked to play cards and collect guns and knives. He was preceded in death by a son, Allen Shadden, his parents, five brothers, Floyd, Lyle, Harry, Raland, and Gary Shadden, two sisters, Pauline Plain and Evelyn Reardon, and one great grandchild, Luna Archer.
