Obituary - Marie C. Wilson

Marie C. Wilson, age 89 of Clinton, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 3rd, 2021 at her son's home in Clinton, after a short illness.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, December 9th, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri, with burial following in the

Vansant Road Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. Family will receive friends Wednesday, December 8th, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in Marie's name can be made to the First Baptist Church of Clinton, and may be left in care of the funeral home.

One vehicle accident in Bates County

On December 4th around 6:30pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident involving a car striking a deer on AA Highway just west of CR 9001 in rural Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek driven by 62 year old Mark A. Gray of Drexel, Missouri struck a deer in the roadway and came to rest on the shoulder of the roadway.

A passenger in the vehicle 62 year old Judith L. Gray of Drexel, Missouri sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene of this accident.

Butler Bears High School Wrestling News 12/4

The Butler Bears High School Boys Wrestling team had four wrestlers finish the day in the medal round at Knob Noster.

Baylor Myers finished 4th, Triston Trumbore finished 2nd, and Issac Rodriguez and Brendin Patrick both finished 1st!

Way to go Bears!



Missouri State High School Football Week 15 State Championship Scoreboard:

The 2021-22 Missouri State High School football season has came to a end this weekend in Columbia at the Show-Me Bowl! 

Some highlights from the Show-Me Bowl includes 5 teams winning state championships for the first time ever in school history the Drexel Bobcats, Lutheran St. Charles Cougars, St. Mary's Dragons, East Buchanan Bulldogs and Smithville Warriors all got a taste of winning a state championship and will look to get back and repeat next year. 

Old faithful the Webb City Cardinals won their first Class 5 Championship and 16th title overall while CBC from St. Louis collected their 2nd championship and first one since 2014.

Mid America Live would like to say to congratulations to the teams that put in the work to win a State championship.

Obituary - Elijah Dean Miles

Elijah Dean Miles, infant son of James Miles and Leeann Stone, was stillborn Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada, Missouri. 

In addition to his parents, he is survived by four sisters, Audrey, Briley, Calley and Daphnie; grandparents, Jolene Matkin (Ken), Debra Stone and Cindy Lawrencce and great-grandmothers, Elizabeth Hill and Jeroldene Ellifrits. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pastor Jeff Feagins will conduct a memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 6th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. 

Memorials are suggested to the Elijah Miles Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywittcom.


Obituary - Kenneth Ray Herdman

FUNERAL SERVICES for Kenneth will begin at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 6, 2021 at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri.

OFFICIATING at the service will be Rev. Linda Wansing.

VISITATION will preceded the service from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

A MILITARY GRAVESIDE will be presented by the Appleton City VFW & MO Honor Guard.

INTERMENT will be in the Appleton City Cemetery.

MEMORIAL donations are requested to the Family Love Fund and may be left at the funeral home.

Kenneth Ray Herdman passed away peacefully at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri on December 1, 2021, age 69. He was born October 28, 1951, the son of Raymond Calvin and Marjorie (Mae) King. He graduated from Richmond High School in Richmond, Missouri, in 1969. After the completion of his education, Ken worked for General Motors as an automotive laborer until his retirement. Later, he met and married Tamara Mullen on October 28, 2017, his longtime sweetheart of 21 years. They shared 5 children: Daniel, Matt, Stephanie, Brianna, and Nick.

His family was the most important thing in his life, and he loved spending time with them. Along with this, Ken spent many happy hours pursuing his favorite hobby of rock and arrowhead hunting. He loved to be outdoors and spend time in nature. He also enjoyed gardening. His most cherished times, though, were spent with his best buddy and stepson Nick Parker and his grandchildren. Ken will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Calvin and Marjorie (Mae) King; a stepson, Matthew Parker; and one sister, Donna Childers.

Ken is survived by his wife, Tamara; six children: Daniel (Courtney Scheiter) Parker, Stephanie (Isaac) Preston, Breanna (Ethan) Mitts, and Nick Parker, and Todd Herdman and Tamara Folvercik; grandchildren: Emma, Reagan, and Stella Parker, Ella, Nora, and Hayes Preston, Zayne and Rowan Mitts; two sisters: Phyllis Umphfrey and Shari Brock; along with many extended family and dear friends.


Nevada Lady Tiger Wrestling Team News 12/4

Congratulations to our Nevada Lady Tiger Wrestlers for finishing as Runner-up at the Steve Leslie Invitational.

This is the first Women’s Wrestling team trophy for the Lady Tiger Program. We are extremely proud of these young ladies. Great Job Ladies!
