Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Peculiar

On January 14th around 9:23 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies and Peculiar Police responded to a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle around the area of 625 S. Peculiar Road.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2021 Ford driven by 25 year old Mary F. King of Harrisonville, Missouri struck 22 year old Dylan M. McGee of Peculiar with the outside mirror of her vehicle.

Mr. McGee sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville for treatment.

Ending time for the snow



Snow is expected to come to an end by early afternoon from north to south. An additional 1 to 2 inches of snow is expected over the entire forecast area.

Hazardous travel conditions are expected this morning so please use extreme caution if you must hit the roads.

Obituary - Steven Wayne Ball

On January 11, 2022, Steven Wayne Ball passed away in his home in Gentry, Arkansas. His daughter Kristy by his side. He was born in Independence, Missouri on July 2, 1955, to Amos and Dorothy Ball. They lived in Kansas until 1963 when they moved to Collins, Missouri, where he lived most of his life.

Right out of high school he married Cathy Anderson. They had 3 children. Steven worked for the St. Clair County Road and Bridge for more than 10 years, and many mechanic jobs on the sides. He also drove semi-trucks over the road. He loved to shift those gears. Steven’s passion was going fishing, hunting, and rebuilding motors to make them faster.

He leaves behind his best friend Copper Doodle, his son Jason and Cheryl Ball, his daughter Kristy and Jimmy Fletcher, and daughter Jennifer and David Thomas. Grandchildren: Ashley Archer, Katlynn Ball, Perry Rucker, Mariah Ball, Rachael Ball, Steven Hudgens, Maggie, Gabbie, and Waylon Fletcher. Great grandchildren: Sophia Archer, Christopher Hudgens, and baby Oakley. His brother Mike and wife Sharon Ball, sister: Joetta and husband Gene Culbertson. Nephews: Damon and Shannon Culbertson, great nephews: Gage, Justin, and Garrett Culbertson, as well as many more family and friends.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents Amos and Dorothy Ball, his grandparents: Homer and Ollie Ball, Hazen and Hazel Drake.

He will be forever missed and loved, gone but not forgotten.

Garage fire in rural Passaic

The Adrian Fire Department along with mutual aide assistance of the Butler Fire Department is in route to a full engulfed garage fire on the outer road of I-49 near Passaic at this time.
