Cold today. Returning to normal this weekend
Just remember that every mild day that we have between now and Spring is one less cold day we'll have to suffer through. And, to that end, this forecast doesn't look too bad at all (after today)! Have a great weekend everyone!

Obituary - Walter Vernon Emery
Walter (Walt) Vernon Emery, age 84, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home on Monday, January 31, 2022.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the funeral home followed by interment at Raymore Cemetery.
Walt was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on January 24, 1938 to John V. Emery and Barbara (Conley) Emery and lived most of his childhood in San Antonio. He met the love of his life, Margie Thompson (a.k.a. “Queenie”), while they were students at Noel High School in Noel, MO. He went on to graduate from Neosho High School, excelling in theater and achieving “Best Actor in the State of Missouri” honors in 1956. Although offered a theater scholarship by the University of Missouri-Columbia, Walt chose, instead, to serve his country in the United States Army where he served from 1956-59 as a radar technician, stationed in White Sands, New Mexico. Walt and Margie married on December 21, 1957 in Lanagan, MO. While stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, TX, they welcomed their first child, Mark Vernon, in 1959. Their daughter, Pamela Gale, was born in 1969 in Springfield, MO. His career eventually led the family to Kansas City, where Walt worked for over forty years in the telecommunications industry as a network engineer with Southwestern Bell, Sprint and Time Warner. During his tenure at Southwestern Bell, he received their highest service honor, the “Ryder Award”, for network innovation in the telecommunications industry. He was very proud of this accomplishment, and his industry expertise was in high demand as he helped to build fiber optic networks that were precursors to the internet and cell phones. Education was extremely important to Walter, so he took college courses at nights and on weekends, earning his Master’s in Business Administration. He was just a few credits shy of completing his Phd.
Walter was a deeply spiritual man, a devout born-again Christian and Bible Scholar. As he and Margie moved throughout Missouri, active involvement with each church they belonged to was a priority. He held Deacon positions in many churches, and his Bible study classes were packed. His knowledge of the Bible was remarkable, and his thirst for continual knowledge was evident by the thousands and thousands of books he read in his lifetime. He believed in the power of prayer, and would drop everything to pray for those in need. Whether it be sickness, death, situational, financial - his patience, love, kindness, compassion and empathy were a true blessing to all who knew him. He considered himself a servant of the Lord.
One of Walter’s proudest accomplishments in life was being a grandfather (Paw Paw) to his six grandchildren. He and his wife Margie loved their grandchildren deeply and were very involved with their formative, early years. Always the engineer, he built playhouses, swing sets and tree houses, and spent hundreds of hours playing with them. We cherish the precious memories that he and Margie (Maw Maw) created for each of them.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, John and Barbara Emery; and his son, Mark Emery.
He is survived by his loving wife of over sixty-four years, Margie Emery; daughter, Pamela Emery Chace (Steve); daughter in law, Kim Emery; half brother, James Conley; six grandchildren, Hannah, Cole, Cameron, Olivia (Nick), John, and Grace (Dakota); and one great grandson, Sterling.
