Please no burning today!

03/02/2022: 
Henry County will be under a VERY HIGH WILDFIRE DANGER classification today. Dry conditions, occasional wind gusts around 20 to 25 mph, and low humidity levels will lead to very dangerous fire conditions.

No burn permits will be issued today inside the city limits of Clinton. Residents that live in the rural community are highly discouraged from conducting any form of outdoor burning today.

To report a wildfire, call 911 and give the exact location of the fire.

Four injured in Vernon County crash

On March 1st around 9:30 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with Vernon County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a three vehicle accident on Missouri 54 Highway just east of Deerfield, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2012 Ford F-150 driven by 37 year old Kirsten L. Griffith of Fort Scott, Kansas was turning around on the roadway and was struck by a 2021 Ford F-150 driven by 48 year old Scott M. Theis of Nevada, Missouri, whose vehicle then crossed the centerline of traffic and was struck head on by a 2012 Dodge Avenger driven by 23 year old Renee E. Cox of Nevada, Missouri.

Scott M. Theis and Renee E. Cox both sustained serious injuries in this accident and both were flown by helicopter to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri for treatment.

Kirsten L. Griffith and a passenger in her vehicle 56 year old Starla Kingfisher of Fort Scott, Kansas both sustained moderate injuries in this accident and both were transported by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.

All the vehicle involved in this accident were totaled and towed from the scene by Garwoods Wrecker and TCB Tow both of Nevada.

Obituary - Christopher Young

Christopher William Young, 35, of Belton, MO passed away on Friday, February 18th, 2022. His loss was completely unexpected, and the family is shocked and deeply saddened. Christopher was born on September 22, 1986, to Anjanette K. Young-Williams and Chris Beerbower in Kansas City, MO. Christopher attended Belton schools growing up. 

As a child he was always tinkering with things and taking them apart to see how they worked, playing in the creek and fishing with whatever he could use as bait, He also loved hunting. He often found himself struggling with life but was always willing to help his family and friends. His desires were to always do better and found himself lucky in many situations along the way. One of his favorite ways to get away from it all was fishing at the river with his Uncle Dennis,Uncle Jesse and Cousin Greg.

Anyone who knew Christopher, knew that his strong will and sense of humor were never far from reach. He most recently, worked on his growing relationship with his daughter Shaylee, who has a love for animals and such a giant heart. Christopher’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say. Christopher was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dennis C. Arndt, brother, Matthew Stipancich, and cousin, Timothy Young along with his Great Grandparents.

Christopher is survived by his mother, Anjanette Young-Williams (husband Denver Williams), father, Chris Beerbower (wife Christina Landis), Christopher’s Daughter, Shaylee Young. sister, Morgan Stipancich, brother, Josh Graves, stepsister, Ashley Herrera, stepbrother, Bryce Williams(wife Megan), stepsister Heather Beerbower. He also leaves behind his grandmother, Lynnette Arndt, grandfather Rod Niermeier, an uncle Dennis Arndt, aunts, Sherry Stipancich (husband Gary Stipancich) and Yvonne Miller (husband Jesse Miller),Mendy Mizell, Karena Sheets (husband Bobby), Lori Niermeier - Rowe, Jenni Gray and daughter Leah, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 12pm to 1pm at McGilley & George in Belton, MO. He is under care of McGilley & George Funeral Home and Cremation Services - 611 Chestnut, Belton, MO.

Archie man injured in Bates County Crash

On March 1st around 5:06 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on E Highway at CR 993 in rural Bates County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 56 year old Michael A. Greer of Archie, Missouri traveled off the right side of the road and struck a embankment, vehicle then became airborne and struck a telephone pole before coming to rest.

Mr. Greer sustained minor injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Michael A. Greer was also issued a ticket and summons for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated - Prior Offender. He was released to seek medical treatment for his injuries.

Mound City Kansas woman injured in Bates County rollover accident

On March 1st around 7:29 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on A Highway at State Line.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2001 GMC Yukon driven by 31 year old Lindsey Austin of Mound City, Kansas ran off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, returned to the roadway and ran off the left side before overturning. 

Linsey Austin sustained moderate injuries in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of this accident by Douty's Tow of Butler.

Missing/Runaway Juvenile in Cass County:




Missing/Runaway Juvenile:

We received a report of a runaway juvenile this evening. Navaeh was last seen in Peculiar but could possibly be someplace in Belton, MO.

It was reported that Navaeh has been staying with another juvenile and family in the Grandview area, but that family was reported to not be cooperative in communicating with Navaeh’s family in helping to locate her.

Any information in locating Navaeh and hopefully a safe return can be given to 816-779-5102.

Vehicle fire in Nevada

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. the Nevada Fire Department responded to vehicle fire at intersection of Sycamore and Tower in Nevada. 

No one was injured in this fire.
