Brent was the "all weather" friend, he would laugh with you, cry with you, give you a pep talk when you felt like the world was swallowing you whole. Kindness and compassion were traits Brent had in spades.
Brent Douglas Kendrick was born October 6th, 1969, to William (Cape) and Donna Sue Kendrick in Harrisonville, Mo. He was the youngest of three boys.
He grew up in Archie, Mo. From a young age Brent was an active kid. He excelled at gymnastics, football, and the boy had speed to burn. Living most of his childhood on 4th street, that was definitely where the action was. Several boys his age was always playing around the neighborhood. It was a tight group that enjoyed riding go karts, three wheelers, motorcycles, then cars. He loved entertaining his friends, family, and the community as a whole. In middle and high school, he enjoyed singing in the school choir and performing in plays.
Brent developed many interests. First, and foremost he was a "FUNcle", all his nieces and nephews loved Uncle Brent. He was always up for anything. Whether it be going to get a coke or trying to launch a niece or nephew in the air, with his feet, so they could experience a backflip. He was also a founding member of the Ski Cats. Other interests include, quoting Steel Magnolias, Quick Trip Sweet Tea, singing karaoke, texting inappropriate memes, jumping rope for two hours a day, curling 60-pound dumbbells, celebrating each birthday with a back flip to prove that he still could especially to the younger generation. March madness, the Chiefs, the Royals, all Mizzou sports, going to the Lake of the Ozarks, spontaneous trips, spontaneous trips to buy cars he finds online, shopping for boats, novelty t-shirts (that he would dare one of his nephews to wear in public), lover of all animals, buying hundreds of dollars of toys for kids, any kid.
Brent Graduated from Archie High School in 1988, then got his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from UMKC in 1998. Professionally Brent wore many hats, but he was world class at two. Brent was an excellent bar tender! He was warm, and welcoming, attentive, and hilarious all at the same time. Most of his Bar Tending was done at Sharps in Brookside. Many, many people that he met and worked with there are lifelong friends. But when Brent found real estate all his talents shined. He turned his kindness and charm into a lifelong passion. His sales process was from the heart. He bent over backward for clients. Making sure they got what they wanted and needed.
Brent loved people, ALL people. But he was recently preceded in death by the person he loved most his mother. He loved his mother like a good son should. They were tied at the hip, always planning a get together, or shopping for one holiday or another. She was his life, and he was hers.
The world lost one of the best on March 14. Let's all take a page from his book and be a bit kinder to one another, listen a little longer, care a bit more about each other, and let our actions do our talking for us.
Brent was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Wilburn & Ollie Kendrick, maternal Grandparents Don & Nellie Horn, and his mother, Donna Sue Kendrick. He is survived by father, Bill "Cape" Kendrick, Wellsville, KS, formally of Archie, MO. His older brothers and their wives, Bill & Janetta Kendrick of Drexel, MO and Barry & Paula Kendrick of Camdenton, MO. Nieces, and Nephews, Scott & Ginna Kendrick, Jill & Thomas McCoy, Stephanie & Ben Hansen, Chuck & Kelly Anderson, Kayla & Kurtis Weaver, and Brianna & Andy Bissell. Great Nieces and Nephews, Madie, Sydney, Lily, Riley, Aidan, Chase, Trevor, Cora, Quinn, and Charlie. And many, many, many, other friends that were always considered family to Brent.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. The family suggests casual attire, Mizzou, Chiefs or Royals attire highly recommended.
