Obituary - James Scott Wendegatz

James Scott Wendegatz, 57, of Clinton, Missouri passed away early Sunday morning, March 20, 2022 at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. 

Funeral Arrangements are pending under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.

Severe Weather Possible Tuesday



An early spring storm system is expected to impact the region Tuesday into Wednesday.

Strong winds gusting up to 35 mph are possible Tuesday and Wednesday. Thunderstorms are possible Tuesday night.

Some of the storms may be strong, producing large hail, damaging winds and perhaps an isolated tornado.

Obituary - Connie S. Smith

Connie S. Smith, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at her home in St. Joseph, Missouri. 

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 28, 2022 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service. 

Burial will be at 2:00 PM in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri. Memorials can be made to the Missouri Veterans Cemetery and can be left in care of the funeral home.

Connie S. (Magill) Smith was born on September 5, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Daniel and Genevieve Magill. Connie worked as a waitress for most of her life.

Connie is preceded in death by her husband, James Stewart Smith, her parents and her brother and sister.

Survivors include her four sons; James Smith, Jr. of Lola, Wisconsin, Michael Smith of Clinton, Missouri, Robert Smith of St. Joseph, Missouri, Matthew and Angela Smith of St. Joseph, Missouri. Her sisters JoAnn Tavis of Gardner, Kansas, Pam Corum of Clinton, Missouri and Miki (Magill) Tye of Clinton, Missouri, along with 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.

Obituary - Marsha Mildred Petersen

Marsha Mildred Petersen, 72, Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at her home.

She is survived by her son, Paul Petersen, Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Cyndi Fossum and husband Garrett, Harrisonville, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Gavin Lutman (Sarah), Kyle Lutman (Leah), Gabrielle Petersen and Anthony Petersen; 3 great-grandchildren, Mateo Thrasher-Sigala, Madelynn Lutman and Titus Lutman; two sisters, Donna Crisman and husband Rodney, Farmersville, Texas, Deitre Kraft and husband Richard, Granby, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Obituary - Jerry Hibberd

Jerald (Jerry) Dean Hibberd, 82, Sheldon, MO passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Cox Barton County Hospital in Lamar. Jerry was born February 11, 1940 in Gibbon, NE to Max and Edith Hibberd, the 5th of 14 children.

Jerry served in the Air Force for two years while stationed in Lincoln, NE. On July 1, 1962 he married Donna Mae Gottfried at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cleveland, ND. 

The couple lived in Minnesota until 1975 at which time they moved to Missouri. Jerry worked at Garner Gas station in Nevada, MO until they closed their doors. He then worked at Ford Garage for two years, the Nevada Sale Barn hauling cattle, PWSD#1 for two years, and then at PWSD#2 for 36 years until his retirement in January 2021. Jerry was a longtime member of the Milo Fire Department (from 1978 until his death), and also a longtime member of the Lion’s Club (30+ years).

Jerry and Donna were blessed with two children, Jamie and Cathy, and also fostered 15 children during a span of 15 years and still keep in contact with three of them.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, of the home; a son, Jamie, Springfield, MO; and his daughter, Cathy, also of the home. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the Milo Fire-barn, in Milo, MO.
