Annual Butler Chamber Banquet: A Night of Food, Fun and Fundraising

The annual Butler Chamber of Commerce banquet was held Thursday evening featuring a delicious dinner, auction and guest speaker Melody Thornton, owner of KMAM/KMOE-FM radio station. Thornton provided an upbeat history of the station which

almost didn’t land in Butler, but could have been in Colorado Springs CO as her father and founder Bill Thornton considered setting up shop there when searching for a home. No regrets, said Melody as she shared not only the roots of Butler radio, but some interesting tidbits about on-air gaffs and fun behind the scenes. Throughout the evening, attendees placed silent bids on a wide variety of donated items ranging from all kinds of gift baskets and more, while a ‘mystery basket’ was auctioned off by Chamber President Greg Weaver. Likewise, new board members Doug Lawrence and Chamber Executive Secretary Karen Rayborn were recognized along with member business owners as follows: 5 years- Carpenter’s Cup; Burch & Liles; Precast KCMW; The Tilted Tulip; 10 years- Mid America Live and Farmer’s Insurance; 15 years- Family Center; 20 years- Ready Concrete and Friedrich Law; 25 years- Edward Jones; 35 years- DSWA; 60 years- Bates County Broadcasting and Bates County Memorial Hospital.
The Butler Chamber of Commerce has a full schedule of events this year, there's a lot to look forward to in 2022!
