Obituary - Melvin Marshall

George Melvin Marshall went to be with Jesus peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 30, 2022. Melvin was born in Cedar County on August 9, 1937, the son of George and Cathaleen Henry Marshall. 

Melvin was united in marriage to Frances Coale on August 9, 1959 at Caplinger Mills Baptist Church and to this union two daughters were born: Carmen and Cathy. Melvin was saved and baptized on November 5, 1976 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. 

He was a member and served as a deacon at Union Hall Baptist Church. Melvin was drafted into the Army in 1960 and served two years in Anchorage, Alaska. He was then in active Army reserves for two years and inactive reserves for four years.

Melvin and Frances moved to the farm in El Dorado Springs in 1969 to live out his dream. He worked for Julian Construction and then retired from 3M in Nevada. He spent the next 30 years enjoying his farm, raising cattle, and spending time with his family sharing his wisdom and many wonderful stories.

Survivors include wife Frances of the home; daughters Carmen Fletcher (Randy) and Cathy Miller (Mitch); grandchildren Miranda Lowrey (Shannon) and Jordan Fletcher (Jamie); great granddaughters Danica Lowrey, Blair Fletcher and Kalen Post; sisters Donna Watkins, Madeline Parrish, Dixie Haler, and Carolyn McGuire; brothers Bill Marshall and Mike Marshall; sister-in-law Marge Marshall; as well as nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother Tuffy Marshall.

Countywide Disposal now contracted to the city of Creighton

The city of Creighton has contracted with Countywide Disposal to handle their trash disposal needs. 

Tip carts are currently being delivered to all households inside the city limits of Creighton. 

We are honored to have earned this opportunity and look forward to providing great service to the residents of Creighton.

Special guest at the Butler Senior Center

Artist & published author Glenn Dykstra came to the Butler Senior Center for lunch & to show what he built while at home during the pandemic. Glenn told the coordinator that each log cabin took 2 weeks to be built. 

Glenn likes to create things to stay busy & every once in awhile, show what he has made. Good job, Glenn!

Obituary - Tanner Cole Morgan

Tanner Cole Morgan, age 4, Sheldon, MO passed away on Friday, April 01, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. 

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Obituary - Ervin "Gene" McNeely

Ervin "Gene" McNeely, age 74, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada, Missouri. A 2:00PM memorial graveside service will be on Friday, April 8th, 2022 at Englewood Cemetery in Clinton. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Clinton VFW Post 1894 and can be left in care of the funeral home.

Ervin Eugene McNeely of was born on September 13, 1947 in Clinton, Missouri, the son of Walter Ervin and Mildred Maggie (Sell) McNeely. He departed his life on March 30, 2022 at the age of 74 years.

On June 15, 1974 Ervin was united in marriage to Karen Jean Roskop at Leesville in Henry County, Missouri.

Ervin was a truck driver and handyman on everything, loved car shows and the coffee shop. He retired from Windsor Concrete as a manager in 2009. He was a member of VFW Post 1894, a Mason of 548 in Clinton and was an Army Veteran of Vietnam, 1967-1968.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Retha June Hammons.

Survivors include his wife Karen of the home, a daughter, Tracy (Joel) Coffey of Clinton, Missouri, a son, Michael (Brooke) Roskop of Blue Springs, Missouri, 6 grandchildren; Alyssa, Lannah, Colby, Shelby, Kylee, Sydney, 2 great grandchildren; Beckham and Adena, his brother, Charles McNeely, his sister, Hazel Scott of Clinton, Missouri and many more family and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.

Daryl Keith Clay, age 69 of Amoret, Missouri died Thursday, March 31, 2022 at his home in Amoret. He was born September 22, 1952 to George P. and Ruby Fern Grimsley Clay in Amoret, Missouri.

Daryl is survived by a brother, Jerry Clay and wife Cecelia of Pleasanton, Kansas; three sisters, Jane Jennings and husband Dick of Rich Hill, Missouri, Helen Huggins and husband Willard of Worland, Missouri and Doris Johnson and husband Kendall of Mound City, Kansas; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul Clay and Wendell Clay.
