Way to go fellas!

Last Night Mayor Henry and the Butler City Council recognized employees for their years of service to the city. Melvin Ewing has been with the city for ten years.

Rusty Campbell and Trent Diehl have been with the city for twenty-five years.

We want to congratulate them on their accomplishments and dedication to the City of Butler. We appreciate everything you do.

Obituary - Robert “Bob” Earl Chadd

Robert “Bob” Earl Chadd, age 65, of Rich Hill, MO, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at his home after a long illness. Bob was born November 14, 1956, to Donald Edward Chadd Sr. and Gladys Evelyn (Jones) Chadd in Kansas City, KS. 

He grew up and lived in the Kansas City area, most of his life, before moving to Rich Hill. On December 5, 1992, he married Vickey Clardy. Bob worked for Faultless Linen in Kansas City for over 35 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and metal detecting.

Bob leaves behind his wife Vickey; two daughters, Sarah Chadd, Rich Hill, MO and Sharon Morris, Independence, MO; a son Jacob Clardy, Kansas City, MO; a foster son, Samuel Arevalo, Kansas City, MO; one brother, Donald “Ed” Chadd, Cheyenne, WY; a sister, Neota Chadd, Nevada, MO; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sharon Louise Chadd.

The funeral service for Bob will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2022, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, MO.

The family will receive friends 2:00 until service time on Friday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Bob Chadd’s family with the funeral home serving as custodian.

Arrests made in Lamar

This morning at about 07:00am, 04/06/22, the Lamar Police Department received a report of tools stolen from a work truck that occurred overnight.

The investigation led officers to a residence in the 1300 block of College St. With assistance from the Barton County Prosecutors office, the officers were able to obtain a search warrant.

The Lamar Police Department and the Barton County Sheriff’s Office served the search warrant at the residence at about 09:30am; many of the tools were located there.

Kaden McDowell, 19, of Lamar and Chance Jordan, 23, of Lamar were arrested and Probable Cause Affidavits have been submitted to the Barton County Prosecutor for consideration of formal charges.

When: 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday, April 7

 

Where: Bates County Route B between Bates County routes M & O west of Rockville

 

What: MoDOT crews replacing collapsed pipe underneath the road

 

Traffic Impacts:

  • All Route B lanes CLOSED where crews are working
  • Drivers will be able to access driveways and entrances on either side of the work zone, but will not be able to travel through the work zone
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes
  • No signed detours planned
  • Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching the work zone
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

 

Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.

Appleton City man injured in Cole County crash

On April 5th around 4:48 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cole County along with Cole County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Route C just east of Route U in rural Cole County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2021 Toyota Corolla driven by 38 year old Jason P. Melling of Appleton City traveled off the right side of the roadway, stuck a sign and overturned.

Mr. Melling sustained minor injuries and he was transported EMS to University Hospital for treatment.
