Obituary - Donna Lou Terry

Donna Lou Terry was born to Ruth Nichols and Kermit Dempsey on September 11, 1938, in Osceola, Missouri. Donna passed away Sunday, April 3 , 2022, at Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City, Missouri.

Donna married Charles Terry in 1958, and had a daughter Janice Terry on January 21, 1960, in Osceola, Missouri. Donna lost her beloved daughter unexpectedly on June 2, 2014.

Donna worked at Rivals in Clinton, Missouri for 30 plus years making crock pots, and where she retired from.

She lived in Gerster, Missouri until her journey at the nursing home started in 2019. Donna was a beloved mother, sister, friend, and aunt. There was never a dull moment with her. She enjoyed
working in the garden, taking walks, and doing her puzzle books.

Donna also loved doing the chicken dance to make people laugh. She loved all her nieces, great nieces, and nephews, and loved her great-great nieces and nephews. She would always say “them were her babies.” Donna is proceeded in death by her parents: Kermit and Ruth Dempsey, daughter Janice Terry, nephew Joe Lee Drake and great-great niece Carmen.

She is survived by 3 sisters: Debbie Thomas of Osceola, Mo, Sharon Harrelson of Clinton, Mo, and Bonnie Garret of Harrisonville, Mo. 1 brother, James Dempsey of Clinton, Mo. Niece Twila and Robert Manlove of Collins, Mo. Great nieces, and nephews: Daniel, Kimberly, Travis, Michaila and Bobby JR. Great-great nieces, and nephews: Destiny Jayden, Harley, Bailey, Kenley, Paxton, Elijah, Maddix, Huxley, and Brixton.

You will be greatly missed Aunt Bee. Always and forever, I love you!

Butler Public Water District #6 has issued a 24 hour boil water advisory for people in the district who have had low pressure or no water on April 7th. This effects the area north of H Highway east of Butler.

The Pittsburg Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance with locating Belenda Sue Camren in reference to multiple felony warrants for her arrest. Ms. Camren has warrants out of the Crawford County, Kansas, District Court, and the Bourbon County, Kansas, District Court. Ms. Camren is not believed to be armed and dangerous, but law enforcement officials should be contacted immediately if she is observed.

Anyone with information on Ms. Camren’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Pittsburg Police Department at 620-231-1700, or at our tip line, 620-231-TIPS (8477). Callers may remain anonymous.

When: 8:45 a.m., Thursday, April 7

What: Route 54 bridge OPEN to traffic

Details: This bridge was closed in September 2021 while contractor crews removed the bridge deck/driving surface and replaced it with a new surface. The contractor also installed new barrier walls, sidewalks, lighting, fences and guardrails at the ends of the bridge.

This bridge was included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.

Obituary - Stephen Scott Collier

Celebration of life services for Scott Collier of Adrian, Missouri will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Adrian United Methodist Church in Adrian, Missouri under the direction of Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. 

Visitation prior to services 9 - 11 a.m. at the Adrian United Methodist Church. Inurnment at a later date in Salem Cemetery, Foster, Missouri. Stephen Scott Collier, age 50 of Adrian, Missouri died Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his home. He was born November 15, 1971 to Stephen Cole and Sharron Kaye Shrum Collier in Nevada, Missouri.

Scott, the youngest of three children, spent the majority of his life as a resident of Foster, Mo. He was a 1990 graduate of Rich Hill. On March 18, 1995 Scott married Kirsten Leigh Gutshall. Over 27 years of marriage, they had two children, Stephen Bailey and Kameran Leigh. Together they spent countless weekends sharing one of Scott’s greatest passions, showing livestock.

From an early age Scott was heavily involved with livestock, especially Shorthorn cattle. In addition to winning awards throughout the country, he also earned his State FFA and American Farmer degrees. From high school he went on to join the Livestock Judging team at Fort Scott Community College, the same team Kameran now competes with. Later in life his passion went from showing animals to working with his kids’ animals teaching them the tricks of the trade. Their annual vacations typically turned into “Showcations” as they’d travel throughout the Midwest to show Shorthorns. From there they found an extended family through the livestock showing community.

Professionally, Scott was a heavy equipment operator for Great Plains Drilling for 22 years and a member of the Operators Union Local 101. He could proudly show you which buildings and parking garages in Kansas City he had drilled piers for along with sharing a few stories to go with each.

Scott’s journey changed in January 2016 when he suffered a massive stroke. Over the following years, he persevered attending physical therapy, while also winning over the therapists with his wit and charm.

He took on an additional role in the last year as “Papa Scooter” for his granddaughter Avery Jane. When family members would comment how much they looked alike he’d just smile and say “It’s a curse.”

Scott was the guy you could always count on. Whether it was a broken waterline or help with a stranded vehicle, he’d show up with a smile on his face. In addition to cows, he was a lover of all animals, especially his sidekick Rolly.

Scott is survived by his wife, Kirsten of the home, son Bailey (Josie) of Archie, daughter Kameran of the home, parents Steve and Kaye of Hume, sisters Pam Hammett (John) of Foster and Sheryl Austin (Dave) of Hume, granddaughter Avery Jane Collier, mother-in-law Bonnie Gutshall of Adrian, sisters-in-law Kim Young and Kelly Reichert both of Adrian, brother-in-law Kent Gutshall (Charlotte) of Adrian, a host of nieces and nephews and his extended livestock showing and shorthorn families. He’s preceded in death by his grandparents Stephen “Dow” and Aileen Collier, Ralph and Melba Shrum and father-in-law Clyde “Dub” Gutshall.
