Enjoy today, as a period of active weather is ahead of us. Thunderstorm chances exist Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Sunday: isolated damaging winds and quarter size hail with strongest storms.

Tuesday: Better chance for strong to severe storms in the evening hours, damaging winds, hail, and a tornado or two can not be ruled out with the strongest storms that develop.

Wednesday: Chance for damaging winds and hail with storms that develop.

2022 Missouri Spring Turkey Youth Hunting Weekend starts tomorrow. Good luck to all the hunters!

Hours:
One-half hour before sunrise to sunset!
Youth hunters who are age 6-15 on opening day may hunt.
Youth may also hunt during the regular Spring Turkey season.

Obituary - Jerry Wayne Moody

Jerry Wayne Moody, age 49 of Clinton, MO, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Lee’s Summit, MO.

Jerry was born November 1, 1972, to Jerry Moody and Helena ‘Tomlinson’ Moody of Marceline, MO. 

After graduating from high school, he served in the US Army and National Guard, then went to work in maintenance for Tracker. A loving father, Jerry loved spending time with family and friends. His hobbies included fishing and playing corn hole and frisbie golf.

Survivors include 3 children, Nole Jacob Moody, Sadie Moody and Blake Moody; a granddaughter, Austin Bauer; a brother, Ray Allen Yowell; several family members; and many friends.

Preceding him in death was his mother, Helena Moody; and a daughter, Ashley Caldwell.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Consalus Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Clinton Cardinal Youth Football and may be left in care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd St., Clinton, MO 64735.

Obituary - Julia Kathleen Phares

Julia Kathleen Phares passed away suddenly on April 3, 2022 at Menorah Medical Center surrounded by her mother, father and sister. She was a bright light in their lives and will be sorely missed. Julia was born in San Francisco, California on October 7, 1977. 

She was adopted by her parents, David and Julie Phares, shortly thereafter. She lived in Berkley, California; Seattle, Washington; New Canaan, Connecticut; and New Iberia, Louisiana. Julia moved to Overland Park to be closer to her family, including her grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, parents and sister. She loved them all very much.

Julia enjoyed books and read voraciously. The New Yorker was a favorite of hers, and she loved discussing social issues and politics. She also loved exploring nature and bird watching. Julia was most passionate about cats and rescued many of them over the years. She also enjoyed visiting her sister’s farm to see the new lambs in the spring.

Julia is survived by her father David Phares of Kansas City, Missouri; mother, Julie Phares of Peculiar, Missouri; sister, Dr. Elizabeth Phares of Peculiar, Missouri and her cat Baby.

A small gathering will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, April 9th from 3 pm to 4 pm at McGilley and George Funeral Home in Belton, Missouri. Family and friends are invited to share memories of the joy that Julia brought into their lives. Her light will never dim in our hearts. Rest in peace, sweet girl.

Obituary - Sharon Kay (Coonce) Danner

Sharon Kay (Coonce) Danner, 74, of Holt, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on February 20, 2022. Sharon was born at home on August 12, 1947 in Papinville, Missouri to Charles F. Coonce and Bertha E. (Wilson) Coonce.

She started dating her elementary school sweetheart Wesley L. Danner in December 1963. When asked how their first date went, she replied,"Oh, what a night." Sharon and Wesley were married on October 22, 1967. Sharon was a devoted wife and kept watch diligently by while her husband was in Vietnam.

Sharon was a stay-at-home mom until 1986 when she attended Maple Woods Community College. She completed an Associates Degree in Medical Transcription Following the completion of her degree, Sharon accepted a position as office manager for Dr. Balhuizen for 9 years. She then worked as a medical transcriptionist until retirement.

Left behind to cherish her memories: Her husband of 54 years, Wesley of Holt, Missouri, two loving children: a daughter, Lesli (Michael) of Liberty. a son, Robert of Holt. Four grandchildren: Jessica (Jeff) of Kansas City, John (Allie) of Kansas City, Jordan (Spencer) of Blue Springs. Five-great grandchildren: Paige and Liam Poston, and Scarlett and Adalynn Green, and Hunter. Also, many nieces and nephews and all her cousins.

Preceding Sharon in death were: her parents; Charles F. and Bertha E. Coonce, her siblings; Ralph Coonce, Helen Hall, Lewis W. Coonce, Doris D. Thomas, George E. Coonce, James N. Coonce, Ruth A. Kenney and Evelyn M. Painter, and her best friend and cousin Gail D. Biggs.

When Sharon was sewing, cleaning the house, baking or cooking she would have her oldies music on dancing around in the kitchen. Sharon loved her music and could even be found some Tuesday afternoons at the Kearney senior dance or definitely at the Wednesday night jam making music with her lifelong friends.

Sharon was a wonderful wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always put a smile on her face. Sharon faced major health challenges in life but met them with strength and perseverance. Sharon loved the Lord and was a member of The First Baptist Church in Kearney.

A visitation and Celebration Life Service will be held 12 noon to 2 pm Saturday, April 16, 2022at Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill, Missouri. Inurnment will follow in the Papinville Cemetery.
