Obituary - Tina Lorene Nieder
Funeral services for Tina Nieder of Amsterdam, Missouri will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Word of Life Church in Amsterdam, Missouri under the direction of Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri.

Tina Lorene Nieder, age 83 of Amsterdam, Missouri died Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at her home. She was born March 12, 1939 to Elmer Samuel and Nora Ellen Laning King in Rich Hill, Missouri.
Tina is survived by three sons, Alan Nieder and wife Jackie, Les Nieder and wife Marcia and Wes Nieder and wife Pam all of Amsterdam, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Armentrout of Amsterdam, Missouri, Reta King of Papinville, Missouri and Carolyn King of Rich Hill, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Tina was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elvin Eugene Nieder; and three brothers, Alfred King, Paul King and Junior King.

On April 10, 2022, at approximately 10:11 p.m., officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to the area of George Nettles Elementary school for a report of two subjects being shot at. The victims reported being followed and then shot at by a subject known to them, 41-year-old Elijah Andrew Shead.
The victims reported seeing Shead on his motorcycle in the 300 block of East Centennial Drive. They reported Shead began to follow them as they drove and eventually pulled around them at the intersection of Jefferson and Elm. Shead reportedly got off of his motorcycle and fired three rounds at them and then fled the area. The victims drove away from the area until their vehicle became disabled in the area of George Nettles Elementary School.
Officers and detectives began a search for Shead and located him on April 12, 2022. Shead was arrested and taken to the police department for questioning. Shead was transported to the Crawford County Jail where he was booked in for attempted 2nd degree murder (unintentional but reckless), criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, criminal discharge of a firearm, and felony criminal damage to property. Shead was issued a $50,000 bond.
Shead, who is currently on parole with the Kansas Department of Corrections, did bond out of jail on April 12, 2022. An arrest and detain order was later issued by the Kansas Department of Corrections for violation of parole conditions, related to the initial incident. Crawford County deputies took Shead into custody pursuant to this order, without incident, on April 13, 2022. He is currently being held in the Crawford County Jail with no bond.

Obituary - Dennis Joe McMurdo
Dennis Joe McMurdo, 69, Peculiar, MO, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Highland Rehab & Health Care Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop #160, Belton, MO.
Dennis was born January 7, 1953 in Kansas City, MO, a son of Robert Neill and Dorthea Mae (English) McMurdo. He was a 1971 graduate of Ruskin High School, where he was in ROTC throughout his high school years. He also was a graduate of the Electronics Institute in Kansas City, MO. He married Rhonda Jean Gamble on June 26, 1976 in Kansas City, MO.
Dennis had worked at Bendix/Honeywell for 44 years as a telemetry technician. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Local No. #778 in Kansas City, MO. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Peculiar, MO, and Grandview First Baptist Church, where he was a member and served as a deacon. Dennis was highly involved in all levels of scouting. He was awarded the honor of Eagle Scout in 1968. He was a Sachem in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and was also a member of the Order of the Arrow. Dennis co-authored a book on Revelations from the Bible.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Rhonda, of the home; two children, Larry McMurdo, Peculiar, MO and Carrie McMurdo, Cleveland, MO; they adopted two children ten years later, Jesse McMurdo, Raytown, MO and Rachel McMurdo, Harrisonville, MO; one sister, Theresa Kay Garcia of Oklahoma, and 14 grandchildren.

Nancy Lou Linthicum, 78, of Grain Valley, MO, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, passed on from this world on the evening of April 10, 2022, surrounded by the love of family and friends, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Harrisonville. Memorial visitation to be held Friday April 15, 2022, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Memorial contribution may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church or Hope Haven.
Nancy was born September 23, 1943, to J. D. Jones and Lucille (Dorton) Jones in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up and spent most of her life in Harrisonville, having graduated from Harrisonville High School in the Class of 1961. After high school, Nancy attended the University of Missouri. She worked at Yellow Freight for 25 years where she developed lifelong friendships. After retirement, Nancy went to work for Cason Law Firm for 10 years.
Nancy spent her spare time giving back to her community. Doing so by being a lifelong member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She served as an Alderman for seven years. She also worked as a liaison and member of the Historic Preservation Commission for 23 years.
Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren where she made the decision to move to Grain Valley to be closer to them. She embarked immediately on embracing the community and giving back by becoming a volunteer at St. Mary's Medical Center as well as becoming a member of the Church of Resurrection where she served as member of the Alter Guild, Hospitality, and The Order of the Daughters of the King. Nancy's sense of wit and humor made her loved by all in her new community.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Linda Jones, a son, Curtis Linthicum, and a brother-in-law, Tom Moore. She is survived by one son, Jason (Kressy) Linthicum, Grain Valley, MO; one daughter, Paula (Nathan) Carpenter, Lone Jack, MO; one sister, Jan Moore, Lee's Summit, MO; one brother, Thad (Pam) Jones of Archie, MO; four grandchildren: Alex Linthicum, Devin Linthicum, Holden Carpenter and Drew Linthicum, and many nieces and nephews and friends.
