Obituary - Russell Alexander Haston

Russell “Alex” Alexander Haston, age 29, passed away at home on Monday, April 11, 2022.

A celebration of Alex’s life will be held with a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083.

Alex was born in Dover, Delaware on September 15, 1992 to Russell Steven Haston and Aileen (O’Malley). Alex graduated from Ray-Pec High School in the spring of 2011. In life Alex had an eye and appreciation for abstract art. Over the years he has painted many pieces of which many people have admired. He worked for many years in the food service industry, making many friends.

Alex was preceded in death by his paternal great grandparents, James and Aggie Haston; paternal grandfather, Jerry Haston; and maternal grandfather, William Norman O’Malley.

Left to cherish Alex’s memory is his mother, Aileen Isaacs (David); father, Russell Steven Haston; sister, Brittni Newman (Josh); niece, Kinsley Newman; paternal grandmother, Dianna Harris; maternal grandmother, Janet Clifton; maternal grandmother, Lana Haston; cat, Thor; and many other friends.

Fallen-Not Forgotten event in Harrisonville

On Thursday, April 21, 2022, the Harrisonville Police Department will remember and honor the lives of two local officers killed in the line of duty, Donald Marler and Francis Wirt, as well as one civilian, Orville Allen, marking 50 years since their passing.

“Fallen, Not Forgotten” is the theme of the remembrance and the park rededication is planned for 5 p.m. in Marler-Wirt-Allen Park at the corner of Mechanic and Independence Streets.

The public is invited to attend the park rededication.

The families and invited guests will gather locally for a private ceremony following the park rededication

Obituary - Wilma Maxine (Rinehart) Robertson

Wilma Maxine (Rinehart) Robertson, age 92, passed away April 10, 2022, atBarone Alzheimer’s Care Center in Nevada, Mo.

She is survived by her son Randy Robertson and wife, Nancy; daughter-in-law, Barbara Robertson; four grandchildren, Brett Robertson and wife, Rachel, Blake Robertson and wife, Janna, Brooke (Robertson) Knepper and husband, Matt Knepper, and Briana Robertson; six great grandchildren, Tyne Robertson, Niya Robertson, Natalie Robertson, Emiline Knepper, Benjamin Robertson and Beau Knepper.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Robert Millard Robertson; a son, Rob Duane Robertson; two sisters, Margery Belle Pryor and Mary Helen Oyler; and her parents.

Maxine was born December 27, 1929 in Richards, Mo., the daughter of Loren Blake Rinehart and Fay (Cline) Rinehart. Maxine attended Rinehart School through the 8 th grade and graduated from Metz High School in 1947.

She completed her education with an A.A. in accounting later in life. Maxine enjoyed playing basketball in high school and would occasionally tell a story about playing if you asked her to talk about it.

Maxine married Bob in 1948 and soon went to work at Farm and Home Savings in Nevada. She took 10 years off, beginning in 1956, when Rob was born to raise her two boys. Two years after returning to Farm and Home, Maxine and Bob opened Rob’s Western Wear on Cherry Street in Nevada.

Maxine continued her work as well as helping run a business. After over 40 years of working outside the home, Maxine retired. She then tended flowers, researched genealogy, created greeting cards and kept busy being a loving Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma.

Maxine was a life-long member of the Rinehart Christian Church and also attended the First Christian Church in Nevada for a time. She enjoyed gospel music up to the time of her passing.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Heuser Funeral Home in Rich Hill, Mo. Burial will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada, Mo.

Those who wish may contribute to the Alzheimer’s Association in Maxine’s memory in care of Heuser Funeral Home, 320 E Walnut, Box 42, Rich Hill, Mo.

Two arrested after disturbance in Pittsburg Kansas

On April 12, 2022 at approximately 1:51 p.m., officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of West 23rd Street for a disturbance. When officers arrived on scene one subject, identified as 21-year-old Davante Lamonte Brandon Bowman-Ragland, was found to have a handgun. Bowman-Ragland got into an altercation with the officer, but was ultimately taken into custody without incident. The other subject, identified as 19-year-old Jordan Issiah Hayes, fled from officers.

Pittsburg firefighters in the area flushing hydrants alerted officers to the possible location of Hayes, who was located in a nearby garage and taken into custody without incident.

Davante Bowman-Ragland was arrested and taken to the Crawford County Jail where he was booked in on the following charges: criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, interference with law enforcement, possession of marijuana, and an active failure to appear warrant. Bowman-Ragland is being held in lieu of a $6,000.00 bond.

Jordan Hayes was arrested on an active warrant out of Crawford County and was taken to the Crawford County Jail. Hayes is being held without bond.

Mock crash activity this Thursday at Butler High School

Butler High School with assistance from Bates County Memorial Hospital will be conducting a mock crash activity on Thursday, April 14 at 9:00 a.m. 

Fulton Street will be shut down for a short time and there will be a presence of emergency vehicles.

Obituary - Brenda "Sassy" Sue Randol

Brenda Sue Randol, 65, passed away at home, April 12, 2022 after a 4 year battle with peritoneal (ovarian) cancer. At the time of her passing she was surrounded by loving family and friends. She was known as "Sassy" by her family and friends. Sassy was born on December 15th, 1956, to Walter James Riffle and Darlene Dolores Becksteadt Riffle in Rochester, Indiana. After her family moved to Missouri, Sassy attended Harrisonville Junior and Senior High School from which she graduated in 1975.

It would be wrong to say Sassy lost her battle with cancer because she never stopped fighting. No matter had sick she was, she was always determined to continue. When others would have broken down and quit, Sassy stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and persererance truly look like. There was no quitting in Sassy. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn't mean she lost her fight.

Sassy lived in Garden City, Missouri where she met her soulmate, Randy Randol in 1990. They later were united in marriage on December 30th, 1994. While residing in Archie, MIssouri they raised 6 children. Shanna Randol McConnell and her husband John, of Lebanon, MIssouri. Matthew Cooper and his wife Shelly, of Marceline, Missouri. Brandi Randol Wisdom and her husband Dustin, of Marshfield, Missouri. Mitch Cooper and his wife Sheri, of Belton, Missouri. Michelle Cooper Sloan of Harrisonville, Missouri. And Christina Whiteside of Archie, Missouri. Sassy had six grandchildren, Katie and Dakota McConnell, Morgan and Megan Wisdom, and Landon and London Sloan, that she loved and cherished.

Sassy is survived by five siblings, sisters Janice McLane of Eagleview, Missouri, Christine Everett of Harrisonville, Missouri, Pam Riffle and Debbie Wohler, both of Purdin, Missouri and a brother, Kevin Riffle of Peculiar, Missouri; many nieces and nephews.

Sassy was preceded in death by her parents and one infant son, Daniel Lee Cooper.

Sassy had many hobbies which included creating diamond art pictures, scrapbooking turning pictures into pages of wonderful memories, collecting garden gnomes and camping. While camping Sassy and Randy fell in love with the Bennett Spring area. They set their camper there 17 years ago. This is where Sassy learned to flyfish for trout. She would dawn her waders, boots, vest and flyrod to spend the day in the stream at her favorite spot. She was known for her saying "Just one more cast".

Christmas was her favorite holiday, when she could decorate their home, make sugar cookies, and make peanut brittle. Some may have said that her cookies and peanut brittle were the best.

Sassy was employed by Peterson Mfg, Grandview, for over 30 years before retiring in 2017. While there Sassy had many roles and made many lifetime and cherished friends while working there.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorial contributions to Heartland Hospice of Butler, Missouri. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later time.
