Braker sentenced to 10 years Missouri Department of Corrections

Ryan D. Braker entered a guilty plea on January 26, 2022, in the Circuit Court of Jasper County, Missouri. Braker pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance for events occurring on July 18, 2019, where the Ozark Drug Enforcement Team, Barton County Sheriff's Office and Lamar Police Department, served a search warrant at a rural Barton County residence.

On May 5, 2022:
Judge Gayle Crane sentenced Braker to 10 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. Braker is in custody awaiting transportation to the Department. The case was transferred to Jasper County on a change of venue from Barton County.

Obituary - Albert Eugene "Zeke" Bauer

Albert Eugene "Zeke" Bauer passed away at home from complications of Vascular Dementia that he battled for about seven years. His wife and daughters were at his side. A visitation will be held 9:00 am to 9:30 am Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville, Missouri. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am and a Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 am also at the church Saturday. 

A visitation will also be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Mullinax Funeral Home, Drexel Chapel (816-657-4400). A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 pm Saturday, also at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eddie Bauer Scholarship Fund. Zeke was born September 11, 1940 in Paola, Kansas to Lawrence and Clara Strausbaugh Bauer. He grew up on a farm East of Louisburg, Kansas and attended a little country school called Moore. He graduated from Louisburg High School in the class of 1958 and immediately enlisted with the Navy in May of 1958. He was on the Aircraft Carrier, the USS Saratoga during the Cuban Missile Crisis with Russia, his ship was brought to Cuba. Zeke was also present for the Bay of Pigs. In the early 60's, he married Dixie Browning and to this marriage two children were born, James and Kristine Bauer. On May 8, 1976 he married Anita Bowers Craft. He gained her two children, Wendi, and Rusty Craft.

Zeke worked various jobs in Kansas City, then moved to Drexel Missouri. He went to work for P & M Coal Mining Co. south of Amsterdam MO., holding several different jobs while there. One of his favorites was operating a big Bulldozer. In 1982 he bought the Chevrolet dealership and renamed it Bauer Chevrolet & Inp. Co. He sold new & used cars, Massey Ferguson equipment as well as New Idea. Over the years Zeke sold many farm parts to the area farmers.

After closing the dealership, he used his hydraulic repair skills learned in the Navy, and started his own business called Zeke’s Mobile Service. He traveled across Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma, repairing the hydraulics of bucket and aerial trucks for gas, electric, and utility companies. He really enjoyed this work. After a stroke in 2006, he retired from traveling. Zeke then started a tree trimming business with his own bucket truck.

Another job he thoroughly enjoyed. Zeke taught welding for Woodland 4-H Club and he and his wife were 4-H County Advisors for Bates County. They enjoyed working with teens in 4-H throughout the county. Zeke belonged to Drexel Lyons Club and helped with the 4th of July Celebrations and putting up the Christmas decorations on Main Street for many years. Over the years Zeke placed several barrels around town to collect aluminum cans, and generously donated his profits to the Drexel Pool Association. He proud to be able to give the Pool several hundred dollars. Zeke had many loves in life, but especially enjoyed to snow ski, bowl, and travel.

Zeke is survived by his wife, Anita, of 46 years, a son, James Bauer & wife Theresa of KC. KS, daughter, Kris Bauer of Lee’s Summit, MO. and daughter Wendi Craft Dooley & husband Michael. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Zeke loved each and everyone. Zeke was preceded in death by his parents, his only brother, Lawrence Edward Bauer, and a son, Rusty Craft, Sr.

Obituary - Wayne Eugene Hall

Wayne Eugene Hall, age 81, of Raymore, Missouri passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Foxwood Springs Senior Living facility in Raymore. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton.

Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery Clinton, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations to be made to Fellowship of John at Foxwood Springs in Wayne Hall’s name and can be left in care of the funeral home.

Wayne was a father, a grandfather, a husband, a provider, a golfer, a hunter, an angler, a traveler, a scout, an athlete, a collector, a coach, and a friend. He loved spending time with his family and his friends. He had a sharp wit and a gift for making people smile and laugh that he carried with him until the end.

Wayne was grateful for 60 years of wonderful marriage to Nancy Marlene Hall. They worked hard, raised a family, and enjoyed their time together with friends playing cards, bowling, antiquing, and traveling.

Growing up in Clinton, Wayne was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America and the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. After retirement, he served two summers as a camp volunteer at Bartle Scout Reservation.

Wayne graduated Clinton High School in the class of 1958. He was employed by Kansas City Power & Light Company for approximately 40 years spending much of that time as a welder at the Montrose Powerplant. He stayed active in retirement working for Kreisler Drug Store and Meadow Lake Golf Course. He also served as treasurer for his homeowner’s association. He stayed a member in good standing at the Clinton Masonic Lodge.

Wayne was an Honorary Life Member of the Clinton Elks Lodge. After becoming a member in May of 1965, he was actively involved in the lodge’s leadership and supported the lodge’s many community activities.

Wayne was a competitive table tennis player. He traveled throughout the country taking part in local as well as national tournaments. His best memories were teaming up with coworkers from KCP&L and winning the annual Corporate Challenge tournaments in Kansas City.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Nancy and his parents Clark and Marie Hall.

Survivors include his sister Donna Longhenry and her husband Lew; sons Jeff and Chris; daughters-in-law Joanne and Jodi, granddaughter Cayley, grandsons; Kramer, Hays, Briggs, Brandon, and Brent.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.

Harrisonville Rotary Club News

The Harrisonville Rotary Club is proud to celebrate the 39th year of our Flag Program. On six holidays throughout the year, we post the American flag on participating businesses in our community.

Over the years, money raised from the flag program has benefited Harrisonville in many ways, ranging from picnic shelters and playground equipment to scholarships and leadership training for students.

Butler woman arrested for driving while intoxicated

On May 6th around 12:19 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 27 year old Maci J. Roy of Butler, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated.

Maci J. Roy was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and she was later released.

Dispatch is advising that multiple roads in Bates County are under water. Please be aware of this when our traveling.

The intersection of J Highway and Y highway is currently under water. J Highway between Amsterdam and Miami school has water over the road in multiple places.

The intersection of 18 Highway and AA Highway is currently under water. Many Gravel roads are underwater. Please do not drive through  highwaters.
