Obituary - Herbert D. Myers Jr.

Herbert D. Myers, Jr. age 80, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 at home.

Private family services will be held.

Herbert was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 29, 1941 to Herbert D. Myers, Sr. and Dora (Audsley) Myers. Herbert graduated from high school and began his career in the construction field. In the summer of 1985 he was joined in marriage with his loving wife, Evelyn M. Parks on June 14th. In life Herbert had a passion for his family, art, fishing and home remodeling, was president of the Southern Clay County Jaycees in Kansas City, Missouri, and owned and operated his paint store, “Paintin Place.”

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Sr. and Dora Myers; and brother, Will Myers.

He is survived by his loving wife of over thirty seven years, Evelyn Myers; son, Patrick Myers; two daughters, Kelly Johnson (Duke), and Angela Myers; two sisters, Nancy Marshall and Kathy True; five granddaughters, Georgia Myers, Daphne Dembowski, Devan Vernold, Alexandra Allen (Ben), and Abigail Foust; and two great granddaughters, McKaela and Victoria.

Butler man arrested after fleeing from police on foot in Butler

On May 7th shortly after 1:00 a.m. the Butler Police Department was dispatched to the Bates County Memorial Hospital on a call of a suspicious male wandering around the parking lot.

When officers arrived on scene they made contact with 27 year old Ricky L. Horton of Butler, When they ran Mr. Horton it came back that he had a active warrant for Domestic assault.

Mr. Horton took off running on foot north of the hospital and was quickly apprehended around the area of High and Nursery Street.

Horton was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he is currently listed as bondable. More charges are pending at this time.

Obituary - Kathleen Ann Gebauer

Kathleen Ann Larrison Day Gebauer, went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2022.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave., Belton, Missouri 64012. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. Kathleen will then be laid to rest at Belton Cemetery in Belton, Missouri.

Kathleen was born on September 16, 1934 to Arthur V. Larrison and Catherine Larrison Day (Kreitner). Kathleen grew up in High Ridge, Missouri and as a teenager worked at Gelner’s Grocery Store. Kathleen was prom queen at Eureka High School, class of 1952.

Kathleen married the love of her life, Alfred Gebauer on December 16, 1952. They enjoyed sixty-nine years of wedded bliss. Al referred to her as his beautiful wife, “Tator Tot.” From this union they were blessed with eight children: Kathy, David, Patty, Linda, Cindy, Greg, Phil, and Mary.

Kathleen, a.k.a. Grandma Cookie, loved holding and rocking their eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Family and faith were her driving forces. She was a great cook and housekeeper. She wrote wonderful poems and loved playing games and singing songs from her past as well as listening to music.

Kathleen and Al were faithful members of St. Sabina’s Church and loved their prayer group and the lasting friendships they formed. Kathleen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. Kathleen was a positive and happy person. She will be greatly missed by all.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur V. Larrison, Catherine Day and Charles F. Day; and three siblings, Esther Sigan, Arthur M. Larrison, and Norma Bauer.

She is survived by her loving husband, Al Gebauer; eight children, Kathy Alexander (Cliff), David Gebauer (Sharon), Patty Steinshouer (Danny), Linda Gebauer, Cindy Stein (David), Greg Gebauer (Dawn), Phil Gebauer (Chris-Anne), and Mary Shatford (Kurt); sister, Carolyn Huff (John); eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

Butler man arrested in Bates County

On May 7th around 3:23 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 24 year old Clay L. Burnett of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Burnett was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated - Prior Offender 2.) Possession of Marijuana 3.) Possession of drug paraphernalia.

Clay L. Burnett was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and was later released.

Two juveniles hurt in Bates County Crash

On May 6th around 6:33 p.m. the Missouri State Highway in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies, Bates County EMS and Butler Fire Department responded to a one vehicle accident on CR NW 2001 just south of CR 1502 in rural Butler.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a 2006 Dodge Ram driven by a 16 year old juvenile male from Butler traveled off the east side of the roadway and struck a ditch.

Two 15 year old juvenile male passengers in this vehicle were injured and both were transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle was towed from the scene of this accident by Douty's Tow of Butler.

Adrian woman arrested in Bates County

On May 6th around 6:56 p.m. the Missouri State Highway in Bates County arrested 45 year old Melanie D. Robards of Adrian, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) Driving while Intoxicated - Prior Offender 2.) Registration Violation 3.) Following too close.

Melanie D. Robards was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and later released.

Two vehicle accident in Cass County

On May 5th around 4:02 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident at Missouri 7 Highway at Sycamore Grove Road in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2015 Ford Fusion driven by 20 year old Cameron L. Moore of Warsaw, Missouri overtook and struck the rear of the 2007 GMC Truck driven by 70 year old Howard Long of Garden City, Missouri.

Howard Long sustained serious injuries and was transported by Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

Mr. Moore along with a passenger in his vehicle 36 year old Justin W. Sneed of Warsaw both were injured in this accident and Mr. Sneed was transported by ambulance to Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville for treatment.
