Obituary - Shelly Hays

Stephanie Michelle “Shelly” Hays, 54, of Pleasant Hill, was born, April 22, 1968, in Kansas City, Missouri. She departed this life, Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit surrounded with love and family.

Shelly was a 1986 Blue Springs High School graduate.

Shelly was employed as a childcare provider for Children’s World in Blue Springs and later for Kidz Inc. in Pleasant Hill. She also worked for Price Chopper in Pleasant Hill. She was a member of the United Food & Commercial Union.

Shelly enjoyed baking (especially for all of her kiddos in daycare), going out to dinner, shopping, was an avid Chiefs fan, and a Rooster mom through and through. Most important to her was her boys. She never missed an opportunity to watch them in their various activities. She loved and cherished them beyond measure; they were her world.

Shelly was preceded in death by her parents Jerry Lee and Marilyn (Clark) Hays; paternal grandparents, Charles and Helen Hays; maternal grandparents, Louis and Pearl Clark.

She is survived by her two sons, John Michael Hays and Coleman Lee Hays both of Pleasant Hill; her brother, Stephen Michael (and Jennifer) Hays of Carrollton, Missouri; two nephews, Lucas Hays and Jerry Hays; one niece, Brittany Hays; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. Graveside services and inurnment will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

A Celebration of Shelly’s life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Big Iron Town. Service will start at 6:30 followed by a light dinner. The family invites you to wear Rooster Spirit wear or Chiefs red in her honor.

Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to her sons, John and Cole, to help offset their expenses. An account has been set up at the Community Bank of Pleasant Hill in their name.

Nevada Speedway rained out tonight

The girls face explains it all. Due to overnight showers and more throughout the day with cooler temperatures/cloud cover we are canceling tonight's race.

We are also off next Saturday May 28th for Memorial Weekend. That means Saturday June 4th will be a busy one with CARB Night at the races, our $528 to win Mini Stock Memorial.

More information about the June 4th race will be made in a separate post. Thank you everyone and have a safe couple of weeks off!

Missouri Governor Mike Parson coming to Hertzog Meat Company

Missouri Governor Mike Parson is set to make an appearance at the Hertzog Meat Company in Passaic on Monday May 23rd from 12:30 p.m. to 1:25 p.m. Mr. Parson is scheduled to present a proclamation recognizing May as "Beef Month" in Missouri.

ATV accident in Vernon County

On May 20th around 10:00 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with Vernon County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a ATV rollover accident on US 54 Highway around 5 miles west of Deerfield, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1985 Honda 250 Four-Wheeler driven by 42 year old Frederick J. Wittenberg of Deerfield, Missouri ran off the roadway and overturned ejecting the rider.

Mr. Wittenberg sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Frederick J. Wittenberg was cited with several tickets from the Missouri State Highway Patrol for 1.) Misdemeanor DWI 2.) Driving while revoked 3.) Operating a ATV on the roadway 4.) Careless & Imprudent Driving.
