Butler Chamber Business of the Month

 

The Y Factor Hair and Nail Salon at 109 W. Ohio has been selected as the Butler Chamber of Commerce Business of the Month and was celebrated with presentation of the award to owner Yvette Boyles as seen here. Boyles has provided her services in the same location for 11 years.

Obituary - Jo Ann Wartenbee

Jo-Ann (Gregg) Wartenbee, 81, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, MO. Graveside services will be on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 4:30 PM at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, Missouri.

Jo Ann was born in Bates County, MO, but spent most of her life in Warrensburg and Harrisonville. She retired from a long and successful career with the United States Postal Service.

Jo Ann enjoyed many hobbies through the years, including bowling, bingo, fishing, traveling and sharing stories with family and friends. She cherished her role as daughter, sister, aunt and friend. JoAnn will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Blondie; and brothers, Carl and Paul. Jo Ann is survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Gregg of Lee's Summit, MO; sister-in-law, Nancy Gregg of Warrensburg, MO; niece, Jenny Bivens (Jeff) of Grain Valley, MO; nephew, David Gregg (Rebecca) of Edmond, OK; Matthew Gregg (Brenda) of St. Joseph, MO; niece, Erin Barrier (Cody) of Lee's Summit; and several great nieces and nephews.

Butler man arrested for driving while Intoxicated

On May 24th around 10:17 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 23 year old Austin J. Alcorn of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Alcorn was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated. 
He was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and was later released.

St. Clair County Sheriff's Office makes arrest

On May 5, 2022, Kac Cooper, 18, Butler, was arrested by St. Clair County Deputies on a St. Clair County warrant for Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

The arrest was made after deputies and Sheriff Hilty responded to a call for service in regards to a attempted vehicle theft in Appleton City.

Upon making contact with the victim, the suspects fled the scene when confronted by the owner of the vehicle. Deputies located a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle used to flee the scene and conducted a traffic stop. Deputies ran the VIN number of the vehicle and dispatch reported that it was stolen out of Kansas.

Cooper was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest. Kac Cooper was located with a firearm concealed on his person along with drug paraphernalia.

While he was in custody of the St. Clair County jail, warrants were issued for his arrest and the bond was set at $10,000.00 cash or surety.

Obituary - Opal Marie Hawkins

Opal Marie Hawkins, 93, of Harrisonville, MO, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at her home. 

Funeral Services will be on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow in Orient Cemetery.
