Columbia man arrested in Bates County on three outstanding warrants

On May 28th around 11:23 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 55 year old Edward J. Williams of Columbia, Missouri.

Mr. Williams was arrested for the following failure to appear in court on felony charges out of the Boone County Missouri Sheriff's Office:

1.) Felony Boone County Sheriff's Office Warrant - Leaving the scene of an accident - Bond $1,000 cash/surety.

2.) Felony Boone County Sheriff's Office Warrant - 1st Degree Tampering with a motor vehicle - Bond $1,000 cash/surety.

3.) Felony Boone County Sheriff's Office Warrant - Stealing (value less then $150 and no prior stealing offenses) - Bond $1,500 cash/surety.

Mr. Williams was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he is currently listed as bondable.

Public Service Announcement From Countywide Disposal

Countywide Disposal would like to wish all of their customers a safe and Happy Memorial Day!

As a reminder, ALL routes will be running as normal next week. If your trash day falls on Monday, please have your trash out by the curb that morning.

One Arrested In Vernon County

On May 27th around 5:40 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County arrested 51 year old Aaron Rosier of Crane, Missouri.

Mr. Rosier was arrested for 1.) Driving while Intoxicated 2) Driving while suspended 3.) Speeding 5.) No Insurance. 

Aaron R. Rosier was booked into the Vernon County Jail in Nevada and he is currently being held on a 12 hour hold.

Butler woman arrested on warrants

On May 27th the Bates County Sheriff's Office arrested 21 year old Kylee D. Morris of Butler, Missouri.

She was arrested on the following warrants:

1.) Stealing - Bond $300 cash/surety
2.) Exceeding the posted speed limit by 16-19 mph - Bond is $500 cash/surety

Kylee Dawn Morris was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and is currently listed as bondable.

Overland Park Kansas man seriously injured in Bates County rollover accident

On May 27th around 6:53 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies, Butler Fire Department and Bates County EMS responded to a one vehicle rollover accident in the northbound lanes of I-49 just south of mile marker 126.2 between Butler and Rich Hill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2010 Toyota driven by 26 year old Noah L. Weaver of Overland Park, Kansas travelled off the roadway, struck a guardrail end and overturned.

Mr. Weaver sustained serious injuries and he was transported by Life Flight Eagle to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of this accident by Douty's Tow of Butler.

Police pursuit in Osceola

On May 10, 2022, a St. Clair County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for driving with an expired registration. The deputy activated their emergency lights and sirens; the vehicle failed to yield and continued driving. 

The vehicle picked up speed, then turned on a road with a dead end then proceeded through a field and ended upon Old 13 highway.

The driver of the vehicle continued to fail to yield to the deputy's emergency lights and sirens and backup from Lowry City Police Department arrived on scene to assist with the pursuit. The vehicle turned, struck a barbed wire fence and crashed into a creek.

The driver of the vehicle, Ethan Brookeshire, 31, Arcadia, KS, took off running on foot and was followed by the Lowry City Police Officer. Brookeshire was taken into custody and officers were notified by dispatch that he had a nationwide warrant out of Cherokee County, Kansas for Theft.

Brookshire was charged with Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Failure to Stop at a Posted Stop Sign, and 2nd Degree Property Damage. The front seat passenger, later identified as Courtney Allen, 23, Arcadia, KS, had probation violation warrant out of Labette County, Kansas and was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The back passenger, later identified as Joshua Lee, 43, had a warrant out of Cherokee County, Kansas for Failure to Appear. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and found controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
