Obituary - William "Bill" McEwan

William "Bill" McEwan, was born November 24, 1948 in Butler, Missouri, the son of John L and Fern Laverne (Bradley) McEwan. He departed this life at his home near Appleton City, Missouri June 3, 2022.

Survivors include his wife, Carol McEwan, son John Craig McEwan and wife Juvy, daughter Carla R. McEwan, grandson Carson William Johnson, two sisters, Elizabeth Robertson and husband Dennis and Mary Beth Woods and Rockey.

Bill's wishes were to be cremated. His family is respecting those wishes and plans are being made for a Visitation and Memorial Funeral Mass that will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri under the direction of Hill & Son Funeral Home. Please check our website in a few days for the complete obituary and also the actual time and date for Visitation and the Memorial Funeral Mass.

Inurnment in Appleton City Cemetery will follow the Funeral Mass.

Obituary - Robbie Freeman

Robert “Robbie” Freeman, 36, of Peculiar, Missouri passed away on May 27, 2022. Robbie was born December 14, 1985 in Carthage, Missouri to Paula Kurtz and Bill Freeman. He attended Belton High School and worked as a machinist for Tyson Foods in Kansas City, Kansas.

Robbie was so very loved and will be forever missed. He enjoyed music, his family and friends and was a loving person who never met a stranger in his life. Rest in paradise baby, you will always be missed. If you or a loved one is suffering with addiction please get help.

Robbie was preceded in death by Charlene Reynolds, Carol Murphy and Leslie Reynolds. He is survived by his mother Paula Kurtz, his father Bill Freeman, his sister Shannon Freeman, his brother Tyler Jones, and niece Allison Rose Bodenhamer.

A visitation for Robbie will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McGilley & George Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 611 Chestnut, Belton, MO 64012.

Obituary - Allen Finklang

Allen Finklang, 75 passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022. Private family graveside services to be held. Services under the direction of Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009).

Allen was born on November 2nd 1946 in Bates County Missouri where he resided his entire life. He was a farmer and cattleman for most of his life. People came from all over to buy his quality bred heifers for more than 40 years. He loved putting together deals and was known as a very shrewd businessman. His hobbies included shooting pool and playing cards with his friends. He served as president of the Crescent Hill Cemetery board and was a member of the Adrian Optimist Club.

He was preceded in death by daughter Kelley Lea Finklang parents Troy and Fern Finklang brother Wesley (Bud) Finklang and son-in-law Michael Brawley

Allen is survived by daughters Michelle Finklang and Lori Brawley granddaughters Shelby Finklang and Michaela Brawley and great-granddaughter Lynore Finklang. Sisters Patty Jo (Emil) Beyer Ruby (George) Groesbeck and Barbara (Terry) Schell. And 9 nieces and nephews.
 

Mistreatment of a Dependent Adult and Theft Arrest in Pittsburg Kansas

On February 16, 2022, the Adult Protective Services division with the Kansas Department for Children and Families received information about the misuse of funds of a dependent adult who resides in Pittsburg.

On February 19, 2022, Pittsburg Police Department received the report and began an investigation into the allegations reported to DCF.

The investigation eventually resulted in the positive identification of the suspect. On June 2, 2022, detectives from the Pittsburg Police Department arrested 43-year-old Hillary Rose Houston at her place of employment for one count of Mistreatment of a Dependent Adult and one count of Felony Theft. 

Ms. Houston was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Crawford County Jail where she was booked in and later released on a $5,000 bond.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing at this time. Anyone having information related to this incident, or other incidents, is urged to contact the Pittsburg Police Department at 620-231-1700, or at our tip line, 620-231-TIPS (8477). Callers may remain anonymous.

Three vehicle accident in Cedar County

On June 3rd around 9:45 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cedar County along with Cedar County Sheriff's Deputies and El Dorado Springs Fire Department responded to a three vehicle accident on US 54 Highway around 4 miles east of El Dorado Springs, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1994 Ford F-150 driven by 68 year old Stuart Wood of Stockton, Missouri rear ended the 2009 Toyota Camry driven by 35 year old Jessica Baker. 

The Toyota then traveled into the oncoming lane struck a 2006 Freighliner driven by 58 year old Tommy Couch of Olean, Missouri.

Jessica Baker sustained moderate injuries and she was transported by ambulance to Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs for treatment.

Obituary - Johnnie Bray

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Johnnie Bray who was born on April 16, 1976 in Sedalia, Missouri.

If anyone knew her, she loved spending her time with her grandkids, sharing a love for ice cream with her husband Gabby and she knew no stranger.

Johnnie would open her home to anyone in need. She had a lot of adopted kids join the family throughout the years, many called her “Momma Johnnie”. She just had the biggest heart, there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for the ones she loved and cared for.

Johnnie passed very suddenly on May 30, 2022 surrounded by her family and friends.

She is survived by the love of her life Gary “Gabby” Bray, two daughters, Mikayla Nuse and husband Chris of Neosho, Missouri and Alexis Burrow and fiancĂ© Erik of Carl Junction, Missouri, mother Debbie Faulkner and husband Rick of Vista, Missouri, father Steve Sierks and wife Shelly of Lincoln, Missouri, three sisters Stacy Vasquez of Clinton, Missouri, Rajeana Sierks and Destiny Howell, four brothers Ricky Faulkner and wife Alicia of Vista, Missouri, Steve Faulkner and fiancĂ© Jenny of Vista, Missouri, Eric McNeely and wife Cassie of Clinton, Missouri and Aaron McNeely and wife Cheyenne of Clinton, Missouri, eight grandkids, Scoot, Gator, Jaxsyn, Tidus, Mia, Rohen, Stormy and Kasyn along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grand parents, John and Lucille Horn, Lee Junior and Della Lee Faulkner, John and Ivon Siercks, brother-in-law Richard Vasquez, dear friend Tracy and nieces Hailey, Brianna, Makylee and Rick Ray.

She will be greatly missed by all and just know she is singing her heart out in the Angels choir.
