2022 Bates County Fair Queen Candidate Dara Ramage

Hello, my name is Dara Ramage. I am 14 years old and from Butler MO. I am the daughter of Donald and Denise Ramage, and the older sister of Daniel Ramage. I am a member of the Summit Go-Getters 4-H Club. I serve as secretary for the club.

I am an active member of the First Baptist Church in Butler MO. I love to work in the nursery and also help with Children's Church, VBS, and Awana's. I am a part of my Youth Group at church too. I love to see all the kiddos each week. At the fair this year, I am showing pigs, I am showing a Berkshire that I named Cupcake. I am also showing a Chestershire named Chester. I enjoy working with my pigs and taking care of them.

Over the times I have been to the Bates County Fair, I have loved to watch other people show their animals. I am entering my freshman year at Butler High School, and I am involved in a lot of activities. I am involved in Cheer, and I love to be a part of the squad. I am also involved in Color Guard, Problem Solvers, Youth Alive, High School Band, and FFA. I love to be outside in nature, play with my dog Pepper, and play with my hamster-Little Pickle.

I love to hang out with my friends and family. I really enjoy church and school because they help expand my knowledge and to interact with new people.

Another thing I love doing is walking around my community and seeing people that I know or people I don't know and still no matter who it is be able to have fun and have lively conversations with them. Being a 2022 Fair Queen Candidate, I hope to meet everyone. I want to thank everyone for their support of the Bates County Fair.

2022 Bates County Fair Queen Candidate Mckenzi Self

Hi, my name is Mckenzi Self. I am 18 years old and a lifelong resident of Bates County born and raised in Adrian, MO. I am the daughter of Tim and Deana Self. I recently graduated from Adrian High School with the class of 2022. Growing up, I was an active member of the Altona 4H.

I am a member of the Adrian FFA Chapter which I served as historian my sophomore year and student advisor my junior year. My hobbies include basketball, babysitting, and showing cattle. When showing cattle, I like to attend the Bates County Fair, jackpot shows, and the Missouri State Fair.

In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, loving on my animals, going to the lake, and spending time with all my family. In the fall, I plan to attend State Fair Community College in Sedalia, MO, and earn a degree in sonography. As a 2022 candidate for Bates County Fair Queen, I look forward to meeting everyone and appreciate the opportunity.

Houston, we have a problem…

A Butler resident snapped this photo earlier today (and surely it’s a mistake) at Casey’s on Ft. Scott street where the sign says $4.39 however the pump says $4.49. We can only hope this issue has been resolved by now- things are bad enough.

Bates County Memorial Hospital June Employee Of The Month

Help us congratulate Dot Henry, LPN for being selected as the June Employee of the Month. Dot has worked for Family Care Clinics since 2017 as the Triage Nurse for James Miller, DO, Glenn Gardner, PA and Megan Reno, PA.

She also takes hospice and nursing home calls, and she works closely with all providers in the BCMH system. On an average day, Dot takes 80-100 calls, and she covers for other triage nurses when needed.

Her coworkers say she is patient and knowledgeable with incredible critical thinking skills, and her reliability and work ethic help clinics run smoothly.

Dot’s focus is always the patient’s care, and patients trust her. She is an outstanding employee at BCMH and is deserving of this recognition.
