2022 Bates County Fair Queen Candidate Lillian Rotert

Hello, my name is Lillian Rotert I am the daughter of Chris & Michelle Rotert. I am 16 years old and have been a Bates County resident my entire life. I attend Ballard R-II high school where I will be a junior this fall.

I attended Butler Elementary until my family moved to Ballard at the beginning of second grade. I began my 4-H years as a Clover kid in the Summit Go-Getters 4-H until we moved. I then joined the Ballard 4-H Club where I have been an active member ever since.

I have held several offices over the years in the Ballard 4-H including Club Secretary my Sophomore year. I have also been an active member of the Ballard FFA and held office positions every year. As a Freshman, I was the Reporter, and then elected Secretary for both my sophomore and junior year.

In FFA I have competed on several contest teams including speech where I competed at the district level with division 2 sheep producers and livestock judging where my team competed this past spring at the state level. My many hobbies include volleyball, basketball, showing sheep, babysitting, feeding out bottle calves, and helping care for our family's cattle.

While showing sheep, I have had the opportunity to meet so many people at different shows. I show locally at the Bates County Fair, local jackpots, Ozark Empire Fair, Cass County Junior Livestock, and the Missouri State Fair. I have also had the opportunity to travel to Wyoming and Utah. I attended The National Columbia Show in Wyoming with some 4-H friends just to see if I enjoyed showing sheep.

I loved it! I helped other people show and was then gifted my first lamb that wound up starting it all! In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, being with family, loving my animals, and camping.

While running for Bates County Fair Queen, I have really enjoyed meeting new people while selling raffle tickets. I am honored by the support the community has shown. I also feel very loved and blessed by how many of my family and friends have been so willing to support me. Thank You!

2022 Bates County Fair Queen Candidate Dara Ramage

Hello, my name is Dara Ramage. I am 14 years old and from Butler MO. I am the daughter of Donald and Denise Ramage, and the older sister of Daniel Ramage. I am a member of the Summit Go-Getters 4-H Club. I serve as secretary for the club.

I am an active member of the First Baptist Church in Butler MO. I love to work in the nursery and also help with Children's Church, VBS, and Awana's. I am a part of my Youth Group at church too. I love to see all the kiddos each week. At the fair this year, I am showing pigs, I am showing a Berkshire that I named Cupcake. I am also showing a Chestershire named Chester. I enjoy working with my pigs and taking care of them.

Over the times I have been to the Bates County Fair, I have loved to watch other people show their animals. I am entering my freshman year at Butler High School, and I am involved in a lot of activities. I am involved in Cheer, and I love to be a part of the squad. I am also involved in Color Guard, Problem Solvers, Youth Alive, High School Band, and FFA. I love to be outside in nature, play with my dog Pepper, and play with my hamster-Little Pickle.

I love to hang out with my friends and family. I really enjoy church and school because they help expand my knowledge and to interact with new people.

Another thing I love doing is walking around my community and seeing people that I know or people I don't know and still no matter who it is be able to have fun and have lively conversations with them. Being a 2022 Fair Queen Candidate, I hope to meet everyone. I want to thank everyone for their support of the Bates County Fair.

Houston, we have a problem…

A Butler resident snapped this photo earlier today (and surely it’s a mistake) at Casey’s on Ft. Scott street where the sign says $4.39 however the pump says $4.49. We can only hope this issue has been resolved by now- things are bad enough.
