Obituary - Susan Marie (Ross) Pease

Susan Marie Ross Pease, age 84, La Cygne, Kansas passed away Friday, June 3, 2022. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 2, 1937 the daughter of Dan and Marie Potter Ross. She graduated from La Cygne Rural High School in the Class of 1955. 

She attended Pittsburg State University and later Kansas State University receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Susan was united in marriage to her high-school sweetheart Donald M. Pease on June 15, 1957, and together they spent 48 years devoted to each other.

Together they built a life they loved, filled with laughter, travel, and adventure. A large part of her life centered around the Linn County Bank, owned by the family from 1946 - 2000, of which she was an integral member of the daily operations and the Board of Directors. Susan has been a life-long member of the LaCygne United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed being the organist for 20 years. She was an active member of P.E.O and Past State president, as well as a member of Junior Service League in Olathe, Woman of Year for Alpha Sigma Alpha, proud member of the K-State Singers, and most recently served on the Finance Committee for Tallgrass Creek and took pleasure in being a member of the ukulele group.

Don preceded her in death on July 15, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister Linda Mary Ross DeHoff. Susan is survived by two daughters, Danna Ahnemann and husband Gregg, and Donna Sue Foreman and husband Patrick, two nieces, Brandy Kalinka and Kristin Ross that she treated and loved as her own, three grandchildren, Daniel Peterson, Donielle Edwards, and Dalinda Foreman, six great grandchildren, Layken, Casen, Henry, Charlotte, Violet, and London, and two step grandchildren, John Ahnemann, Diana Ahnemann Torgerson.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the La Cygne United Methodist Church. Private family committal service at a later date in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Susan will lie in state from 1 pm to 6 pm Monday June 6, 2022 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to P.E.O. Updated Obituary - Carol Davis

Carol Diehr Davis, age 83, Nevada, MO passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022. Carol was born on June 25, 1938 in Oklahoma City, Ok to Eugene and Lorraine Diehr.

At age nine, Carol moved with her family to the family homestead farm south of Nevada. She was active in 4-H and was an exceptional student. In 1954 she was honored as Vernon County Dairy Princess. Carol was a graduate of Nevada High School and Kansas City Business College. She worked as a legal secretary.

Carol met the love of her life, Joe Davis in Harrisonville, MO. They were married for 63 ½ years until Joe passed away in 2019. They raised a son, Todd, and a daughter, Jill, in Blue Springs, MO.

Carol had a creative spirit. She was an avid interior decorator and homemaker. She enjoyed crafting and decorating for Christmas. Carol was featured by the Kansas City Star newspaper Christmas Homes Tours. She loved the outdoors, doing gardening and landscapes. She had a great eye for unusual folk art and antiques and loved to tell stories about all of her great finds.

In retirement Carol and Joe designed and built their dream home in the mountains near Pagosa Springs, CO where they lived for 18 years. Recently they returned to the homestead so they could be close to family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe. She is survived by her children, Todd Davis, and Jill Davis Covell (husband, Verne Covell); brother, Jim Diehr, (wife Jane); granddaughter, Sarah Davis, and grandson, Weston Covell; and several cousins; a niece, and a nephew.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Moore Cemetery in Nevada with Pastor Bill Platt officiating

Obituary - Daniel Gene Stephens

Daniel Gene Stephens, age 61, passed away peacefully at home in Harrisonville, Missouri, Saturday, May 28th, 2022. Danny was born October 8th, 1960 in Harrisonville, Missouri, the son of Carl Leo Stephens and Helen Elizabeth Moss.

Danny met Mary Beth Hunholz and soon after they married on July 29th, 1990. He worked at Glad Trash Bags in Rogers, Arkansas. They made their home there for several years before moving back to Harrisonville when Danny transferred to A&M Products in Spring Hill, Kansas.

Danny joined the start up of USA Detergents on November 28th, 1996 as a Maintenance Mechanic in Harrisonville, Missouri, which is now Church & Dwight (Arm and Hammer) where he remained for 26 years.

Danny was well known for loving chocolate and his treats. He loved his coffee and shocked us when he switched to hot tea. Besides being an excellent Maintenance Mechanic, Danny was extremely artistic. He built and crafted many treasures, painted, played guitar and was a gifted songwriter. He was fun and witty, generous, passionate, a great story teller, strong in his faith and the hardest worker you would ever know. He could do anything he set his mind to. He also was the best PaPa to his granddaughters. His family was so important to him and he always put them before himself. Danny loved the Lord and was saved and is now in His presence. We will miss him dearly.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sister Bonnie Thomas, brother Albert Stephens, and sister Janet Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Beth; daughter Sierah and husband Daniel Peck, daughter Katelyn and husband Dallas Sunde, and son Jacob Stephens; two granddaughters Josie and Charlotte Peck, Grandson Henry Daniel Sunde due to arrive July 2022; siblings Carolyn Flanery, Nancy Shroyer, Billy (Patty) Stephens, Barbara (Parrise) Black, Becky (Gary) Hale, Bernie (Ronnie) Hester, Ann Bounds; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life late summer.

Man flees after assault at Aldi's in Harrisonville

On 6/3/2022, at approximately 1226 hours, Officers were dispatched to Aldi (1801 W. Mechanic St.) reference an assault. It was reported that the suspect had fled the scene in a silver in color sedan. 

Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Officers from the Harrisonville Police Department located the suspect vehicle. 

Police were involved in a vehicle pursuit with the suspect that ended in the area of N. Commercial St. and Plaza Dr. Jonathan Brown, 36 years old of Harrisonville, MO was taken into custody.

On 6/4/2022, the Cass County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Jonathan Brown with Assault 3rd Degree. The Judge affixed a $10,000 cash only bond to the warrant for Jonathan.
