Obituary - Joane Rush

Joane Rush, 94 of Butler, Missouri passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022 at her home in Butler. 

A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Butler Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am Tuesday, also at the church.

Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Memorial contributions may be made to the Butler Presbyterian Church, Butler Public Library, or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com

Who: Competitors allowed to participate that are not eligible through 4-H/FFA (Bates County residents)

When: On July 7th at the conclusion of the Beef Show at the Bates County Fairgrounds

How: Find a person you know that is competing at the fair and show their cattle to the best of your ability!

Why: Showmanship was Scott’s favorite! What better reason to celebrate him and to have a little fun as well.

*All proceeds will go to the
Scott Collier Livestock Memorial Fund.

Obituary - Walter McFadden Jr.

Walter McFadden Jr., age 75, of Lincoln, Missouri passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on June 17, 2022 at Englewood Cemetery in Clinton, Missouri.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Henry County Memory Fund and can be left in care of the Funeral Home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri.

City of Warsaw Postpones 2022 Fireworks Drake Harbor Show

Fireworks at Drake Harbor in Warsaw on July 2nd have been cancelled due to the inability of the pyrotechnic company to be able to set off the displays.

City Administrator Randy Pogue stated, “This will be the first year that the City of Warsaw has totally sponsored the fireworks and we are sorry that they will not occur on the July 4th holiday weekend. Instead of totally cancelling the event, the City of Warsaw has contracted with another pyrotechnic company to still provide an opportunity for area residence and visitors to participate in the outdoor experience at Drake Harbor on Friday, August 5th, this will coincide with the annual Benton County BBQ Festival. “

The festival is sponsored by the Benton County Tourism Commission. The Band, Twisted Fate, will start at 6 PM on Friday 8/5 and conclude at 9 with fireworks immediately after.

The event is free to the public. A beer garden provided by the Knights of Columbus is also available at the Drake Harbor Amphitheater. 

Benton County BBQ Festival runs in conjunction with the Smokin on the Harbor BBQ competition, sanctioned by Kansas City BBQ Society.

New Assistant Principal named at Clinton Middle School

The Clinton School District is pleased to announce that Jake Kenney has been selected as the next Assistant Principal at Clinton Middle School.

Mr. Kenney currently serves as the assistant principal at Henry Elementary School, a position he has held for the past eight years. Jake, a 2001 graduate of Clinton High School, began his career in education 16 years ago, 12 of those years dedicated to students, staff, and families in the Clinton School District. Mr. Kenney’s proven ability to lead and build relationships with students and staff, made him the perfect fit for this administrative opening at Clinton Middle School.

I am excited to have Mr. Jake Kenney as the new Clinton Middle School Assistant Principal. With his experience as the assistant principal at Henry Elementary, he has developed strong relationships with the current parents and students at CMS. He has a strong background in developing relationships with school and community members and will be a huge asset in the continuing growth in excellence at Clinton Middle School,“ says Brian Wishard, Assistant Superintendent.

Jake is looking forward to continuing his work in the Clinton School District. "I’m excited about the opportunity to grow professionally and to keep the momentum moving forward at Clinton Middle School, as well as the entire district. I’m looking forward to working again with many of my former students, building relationships with them, and helping them grow and become successful leaders at Clinton Middle School. I’m also excited to work alongside the amazing educators at CMS, and assist them in the great work they do everyday with our students.”

The Clinton School District has begun the process of hiring an assistant principal for Henry Elementary School.
