Obituary - Tommy Lee Yow

Tommy Lee Yow, age 72, of Joplin, MO, passed away peacefully with his daughter and oldest grandson holding his hands June 6th, 2022, at Medicalodge in Butler, MO. Tommy was born in Winston-Salem, NC on July 26th, 1949. He graduated with Parkland class of 1967. After graduating he made a career in the U.S. Air Force. Tommy enjoyed his many tours overseas including a tour in Thailand, Saudi Arabia, two tours in Germany, and several state side assignments. He then proudly retired as a Master Sargent.
Tommy had a big heart for his dachshunds and cats.

He enjoyed going to eat his favorite meal, breakfast at Bob Evans, Cracker Barrel, and IHOP with family and friends. He loved watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and the tv series Monk. Tommy was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and sports in general. He enjoyed walking around Joplin, and even stopping to help defenseless turtles in the road.

Survivors include his daughter Melissa and husband Byron West of Nevada, MO, and son Mike Yow of Oronogo, MO; grandchildren, Jake (Taylor) Brasfield, Caleb Splitter, Connor (Lauren) West, Hailey Bogardus and husband Clayton, Savannah Yow, Jackson West, Sophia and Seanna Yow, Adelaide West; and 6 great grandkids. Tommy was preceded in death by his father and mother Floyd and Margaret Yow, brother Ronnie and sister Kay, nephew Christopher and daughter in law Angela Yow.

Randy Coleman will conduct funeral services at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 17th, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in U. S. National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Air Force Honor Guard. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 until 12:00 at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to either the Joplin Humane Society or Water Garden Ministries and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, 201 S. Main St., Ft. Scott, KS 66701. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywitt.com.

The VNA Home Health & Hospice will be bringing the donuts for the Veteran's Coffee & Scuttlebutt June 15th at 1000 hours at the Butler Senior Center. 

The DAV's Commander Larry Truman plans to be there too. If you are a veteran of any branch of the military or the spouse of a veteran, you are welcome to join us, no matter your age.


Obituary - Patrick Wayne Marmon

Patrick Wayne Marmon, age 79, Paola, Kansas passed away Wednesday June 8, 2022. He was born in La Cygne, Kansas on August 26, 1942 the son of Harry and Mamie Wilderson Marmon. He graduated from La Cygne Rural High School in the Class of 1961. He was united in marriage to Terry Tyrell in 1963. He was employed as a painter working locally before moving to Meeker, Colorado working for Rio Blanco County.

He then moved to California and managed a duck hunting club. He was very involved in protecting and hatching duck eggs through the D10 Wild Duck Eggs Salvage. Patrick enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers, Kenneth, Clayton, Harry Ed, Harold, Kermit, Jay, Bob and Mike. Patrick is survived by his wife, Terry Marmon, son, Shawn Marmon and sixteen young men he fostered and raised, daughter, Sherri Collmer and her children, Chase and Trey Collmer, and numerous great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral service will be 10 am Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Oak Lawn Cemetery, La Cygne, Kansas. Obituary - Ronald Dean Williams

Ronald Dean Williams, 60, Sheldon, MO passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Nathan Richard Healthcare Center in Nevada. Ron was born August 22, 1961 in Nevada to Gene Douglas and Ruby May (Wright) Williams.

Ron was raised in Milo and attended Nevada High School. He worked at Wilson Tire, the Nevada Hab Center, and Murphy Farms for 10 years until retiring due to disability. He also raised cattle part time.

Ron was married to Brenda Turner and to this union one son was born. He is survived by his son, Jason Williams (Laura), Hickman, NE; four grandchildren, Addison, Reagan, Josiah, and Kiera; his mother, Ruby Craft, Milo; four brothers, Gene Williams (Jan), Laurel, MS, Danny Williams (Blanche), Nevada, Ed Williams, Sheldon, and Kevin Williams, Milo; and his stepmother, Bonnie Williams, Independence, MO. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Williams; stepfather, Nelson Craft; three sisters, Ruby Elaine Mitts, Margie L. Carpenter, and Donna Conway; and one brother, Michael Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Lorne Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Milo Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested in his memory to the American Lung Association or the Milo Cemetery c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

Obituary - Ola Belle Arney

Ola Belle Arney, 86, of Adrian, MO passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. 

Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 11:30 AM at First Baptist Church in Adrian, Missouri, with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian.

Obituary - Wendy L. Roberts

Wendy L. Roberts, age 47, of Warsaw, Missouri passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the Kansas City Hospice House. She was born on July 9, 1974 in Independence, Missouri the daughter of Jim and Linda (Mullens) Roberts. 

She grew up in Oak Grove and graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1992. Wendy was employed in the banking industry for more than 18 years, beginning in Grandview, Missouri and continuing at Farmers Bank in Warsaw.

Wendy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw. She enjoyed many activities with the scouting program and was involved in numerous community events through the years as long as her health permitted. She fought a long battle with cancer and infections, but still smiled through it all and made sure everyone was happy. She was sure to brighten anyone’s day with her bubbly sweet personality. She cared deeply for every person she met and her family was everything to her.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Diane Ervin on November 1, 2020.

Wendy is survived by her parents, Jim and Linda Roberts, of Warsaw, three children; Marshall Dillon, Austin Dillon and Savannah Mantonya, her husband, Eric, and their children Ella and Valerie, all of Sedalia, Missouri, one brother, Zach Roberts and his wife Chelsea and daughter, Zailey of Georgia, a brother-in-law, Tim Ervin and his two children Dominic and Chris.

Funeral Services Wendy L. Roberts will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. Burial will follow the funeral at the National Cemetery near Warsaw. Memorial contributions can be made to Benton County Cancer Fund.
