Ray-Pec High School would like to introduce Coach John Lersch as the new Head Baseball Coach

Ray-Pec High School would like to introduce Coach John Lersch as the new Head Baseball Coach.

Coach
Lersch comes to us from the Clinton School District, where he was the Head Baseball Coach for this past season after joining the baseball staff as the Varsity Assistant Coach.

Prior to coaching the Clinton Cardinal’s Baseball Program, Coach Lersch worked for 10 years at UPS after serving 6 years in the Missouri Army National Guard on the enlisted side.

Coach Lersch played baseball for 2 years at North Arkansas College (1B/DH) in Harrison, AR. Coach Lersch is excited to return to the Raymore-Peculiar School district where he began his education in kindergarten at Peculiar Elementary.

Coach Lersch said he is extremely excited for this opportunity to be the head baseball coach for the Ray-Pec Panthers. He looks forward to being a part of our great community and school district.

Coach Lersch looks for the program to be built on the drive to WIN (Work hard, have Integrity, Never Quit) in the classroom, in the community, and on the field. He believes that if the team can accomplish these three goals the team will continue to have an extremely successful baseball program.

Coach Lersch will be teaching business classes at Ray-Pec High School.

Bates County K9 Lector set to retire

The Bates County Sheriff’s Office has announced the retirement of K9 Lector. Lector began serving the citizens of Bates County in 2013. Lector along with his handler, Captain Corbin has had an impressive stat as a team. Lector has had over 40 apprehensions of criminals who ran from or tried to hide from him.

Along with his physical apprehensions he has been involved in multiple drug arrest with several hundred pounds of illegal narcotics taken off the street.

Lector not only patrolled the streets of Bates County but was a valuable tool to our corrections division to help deter contraband from being brought into the jail.

Lector was injured last week while on duty and tore his ACL. Lector underwent surgery today to fix his ACL but will not be able to return to duty. Lector will remain with Captain Corbin and become part of his home family.

“Lector has served our community with distinctions and honor for the last 9 years” says Sheriff Anderson. “It’s time for him to relax and enjoy life laying around his pond and grow old.”
