69th Annual Butler Saddle Club Rodeo in the books!

The 69th Annual Butler Saddle Club Rodeo was held this Fathers Day weekend at the Bates County Fairgrounds.

Despite the hot temperatures rodeo fans packed into the arena all weekend to cheer on the stock contractor Big Horn Rodeo Company from Lamar, Oklahoma.

The Butler Saddle Club would like to think all the sponsors and rodeo fans that make this event a staple in community of Butler every year. 

An extra special thank you to Butler Saddle Club Rodeo President Kenny Gabriel for the countless hard work and dedication to this rodeo every year.

The 2022 Butler Rodeo Princess was Addison Davis 10 years old daughter of Adam and Katie Davis Drexel, Missouri.

She sold $12,095 in raffle tickets, an all time Butler Saddle Club Rodeo record! Way to go Addison


The 2022 Butler Saddle Club Rodeo Mutton Busting Champion was Beckett Pierce 7 year old son of Derek and Kyla Pierce of Adrian. Way to go Beckett!! - In the photo with Beckett is Butler Saddle Club President Kenny Gabriel

5th annual Ride for Little Broken Hearts Poker Run set for June 25th

LOUD MOTORCYCLE NOTICE: Butler Residents, this Saturday, June 25th, we will be having our 5th annual Ride for Little Broken Hearts poker run.

During the morning hours from 8-9 am, you may hear motorcycles around the area coming to our event and again later in the afternoon as they return. Toward the evening, during the dyno drags, you may hear louder than normal motorcycle noises. 

The loud motorcycles will be a bunch of good ol’ boys and girls making noise to help local families who have a child with a critical congenital heart defect. The funds raised are donated to the Remington’s Heart Foundation. The dyno event should be wrapped up by 9 pm.

Happy 60th Wedding Anniversary

Motorcycle accident in Cedar County

On June 18th around 7:45 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cedar County along with Cedar County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a two vehicle accident on Missouri Highway 39 around 2 miles south of Stockton, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 18 year old Charlie B. Wethington of Rich Hill, Missouri crossed the centerline of the roadway and struck the 2012 Harley Davidson Heritage driven by 39 year old William C. Gardner of Humansville, Missouri.

Mr. Gardner sustained moderate injuries and he was transported by ambulance to Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri for treatment.

One vehicle accident in Vernon County

On June 19th around 4:10 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with Vernon County Sheriff's Deputies and the Walker Rural Fire Department responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on AA Highway around 7 miles north of Dederick.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2003 Dodge Ram Pickup driven by 55 year old Timothy S. Bailey of Schell City, Missouri ran off the right side of the roadway, overturned then caught on fire.

Mr. Bailey sustained moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Structure fire in rural Lamar

On Saturday the 18th around 1:30 AM the Lamar Fire Department was called to a structure fire in the county northeast of Lamar. 

When we arrived there was fire and heavy smoke coming from a one story house, we battled the blaze and extinguished it with help from Golden city fire department.

We would like to express our gratitude for the assistance. We were on scene about 4 1/2 hours and According to the homeowner the fire started on the stove top.
