Butler man arrested on warrants

On June 20th around 11:40 p.m. the Butler Police Department arrested 55 year old Gordon M. Sixkiller of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Sixkiller was arrested on 3 outstanding warrants for the following charges:

1.) Driving While Intoxicated - No Bond
2.) Failure to drive of the right half of the roadway resulting in a crash- No Bond
3.) Failure to maintain financial responsibility - 1st Offense - No Bond.

Gordon M. Sixkiller was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and is currently being held on no bond.

Obituary - James Lee Baker

James Lee Baker, age 58, of Pleasanton, Kansas passed away at his home on Monday, June 25, 2022.

Funeral Service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, June 25 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. 

Visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time at the Chapel. Burial will follow in the Aubry Cemetery in Stilwell, Kansas.

Obituary - William Carlos Villanueva

William Carlos Villanueva, 38, of Freeman, MO, passed on Sunday, June 19, 2022 in Peculiar, MO. Celebration of Life services will be held at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM, with a time for sharing at 8:00 PM.

William "Charlie" was born August 12, 1983 in Pecos, TX to Pedro R. Villanueva and Lisa K. Reed of Freeman, MO. He was raised by his father, David A. Reed, from Burnside, IA. He graduated from Midway High School and attended Longview Community College for two years. Charlie helped run the family business since high school. He was in a relationship with Dannetta Garoutte of Peculiar, MO.

He was a member of the Harrisonville Elks Club. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, swimming, was an avid football fan, but particularly loved going to Chiefs football games. You knew when Charlie was around because he was always telling funny jokes that made people laugh so hard, they cried. He put smiles on all our faces.

He is preceded in death by his biological father, Pedro R. Villanueva; grandmother, Donna J. Senior; aunt, Kellie S. Dyke; and aunt, Lora D. Senior. We know Charlie is kicking back having a heavenly beer with Tony Mike and the whole crew.

He is survived by his mother, Lisa K. Reed, and father, David A. Reed, of Freeman, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Sarah; niece, Sophia; nephew, Nolan, of Basehor, KS; aunt, Kerrie (Dean) Stober of Garden City, MO; aunt, Nancie (David) Willis of Raymore, MO; cousin, Miranda Willis of Grandview, MO; grandpa, William D. Senior of Harrisonville, MO; brother, David Reed, Jr. and wife, Jerri, of Urbandale, IA; cousins, Dani and Brandon Reed of Des Moines, IA; brother, Larry Reed of Des Moines, IA; cousins, Tony Reed and wife, Jody; Jared Reed of Des Moines, IA; brother, Danny and wife, Lys Villanueva, of Harrisonville MO; brothers: Victor, Lando and Steven Villanueva of Cotulla, TX; and sister, Audrey Tolbert Qualls of Foley, Alabama.

Obituary - Robert "Rob" Roman Weisensee

Robert “Rob” Roman Weisensee, 49, Walker, MO passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. Rob was born February 5, 1973, in Wheatridge, CO to Frank A. and Renee A. (Scougal) Weisensee. He was united in marriage to Kristina Lynn Wilson on May 13, 1995, in Springfield, MO and she survives of the home.

Rob came to Nevada with his family at a young age. He attended school in Nevada and Walker and graduated from high school in Gallup, NM in 1992 where he was a member of ROTC. Rob worked for Mueller’s Welding in Springfield, MO for several years. After returning to Nevada, he worked for Highland Dairy driving a delivery truck for several years, then Conway Trucking for a number of years where he drove a truck and later was dispatcher for five years. For the past ten years he worked at 3M in Nevada. He was the current Pastor of Christ Church in Nevada, and also attended Life Church. Rob enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery, was a beekeeper, an avid outdoorsman, raised cattle and livestock, and especially loved being with his family.

In addition to his wife Kristina, he is survived by four children, Michael Weisensee (Katelyn), Schell City, MO, Christopher Weisensee of the home, Amber Weisensee, Nevada, Rebecca Weisensee of the home; three grandchildren, Kade, Aaron, and Olivia Weisensee; parents, Frank and Renee Weisensee, Walker; five sisters, Christine Mitchem, Schell City, Lisa Christie (Lance), Nevada, Jennifer Gilpin (Kevin), Walker; Toni (Scougal) Vorce, Granite, IL, and Terri (Scougal) Phillips, Walker; one brother, Devan Scougal, North Dakota; several nieces; father and mother-in-law, Michael and Deborah Wilson, Joplin; sister-in-law, Amy Clark (Garyn), Ozark, MO, brother-in-law, Robert Wilson (Jackie), Aurora, MO; several nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends, as well as his beloved dog, “Duke”. He was preceded in death by his brother Cody Scougal; paternal grandparents, George and Marion Weisensee and maternal grandparents, Paul and Phyllis Scougal.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the family farm on July 4h, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Obituary - Derrick Wayne Johnson

Derrick Wayne Johnson, age 40, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, in Ft. Scott. He was born March 2, 1982, in Ft. Scott, the son of Robert Michael Johnson and Linda Linnett Boyd Johnson. Derrick graduated from the Ft. Scott High School with the Class of 2000.

He went on to attend Pittsburg State University. Derrick will be remembered for his singing talent. In earlier years, he spent many hours performing and helping with the Ft. Scott Jubilee. He had employed in the deli at Price Chopper and later G & W grocery stores. He grew up attending the First Christian Church in Ft. Scott.

Survivors include his brother, Michael Johnson and wife, Jana, of Ft. Scott and two nephews, Randy and Liam. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Linda Johnson and his grandparents, Bob and Margie Johnson and Bill and Celesteele Boyd.

Rev. Rob Carr will conduct a memorial service at 3:30 P.M. Thursday, June 30th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Private burial take place in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Ft. Scott. Memorials are suggested to the Derrick Johnson memorial fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701. Obituary - Harry Glenn Bogart

Harry Glenn Bogart was born Wednesday, May 19, 1943 to Harry Bogart and Opal Holland Bogart. He passed from this life on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at his home near Bronaugh, Mo.

He married and is survived by Saundra Sue Shaw on September 5th 1964 (58 years) in Bronaugh Mo. They lived a wonderful life on their farm and raised 2 awesome children. 

He is survived by a family that loved him very much. His Daughter, Sherry Bogart Brown (Lewis) of Bronaugh, His son Ron Bogart (Nancy) of Nixa and Grandchildren Derek Brown (Rauni) of Bronaugh, Alexis Brown, Alex Bogart, Zak Bogart, Ben Bogart and Annya Bogart all of Nixa. He also has 2 precious great grandchildren Lorelei and Carter Brown of Bronaugh. He is survived by 2 sisters, Lula Shaw and Carrie Houdeshell. Harry is proceeded in death by his parents, one brother and 2 sisters.

Harry graduated from Bronaugh School 1961. He started working at Pohl Construction in 1958 and worked construction for 44 years. He loved driving around town and pointing out the concrete that he helped finish in homes and businesses in the community. Harry was a life long farmer, share cropping large acreage and farmed their 80 acres where he raised pigs, cows, chickens and horses and provides some of the best fishing and hunting for him and his grandchildren. In his retirement he became a bus driver and mechanic. His bus fleet received several safety awards. He was an elder at Bronaugh Christian Church where he has attended for many years.

Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Worsley Cemetery in Bronaugh with Pastor Nick Hardison and Ron Bogart officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
