Obituary - Kevin Wayne Louderback

Kevin Wayne Louderback, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2022, at his home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

Kevin was born March 10, 1971 in Wayne City, Illinois to Richard Lynn Louderback and Wilberta Maxine (Anderson) Louderback. Kevin attended and graduated from Lamar High School in May 1989.

Kevin worked in the computer industry all of his life and was currently a customer experience specialist for Transcom.

Survivors include one sister, Christi (Jeff) Tomlinson of Sherman, Texas and one brother, Kelly (Cindi) Louderback of Lamar, Missouri; six nieces and nephews, Allison Louderback, Erin McCord, Chance Tomlinson, Laura Melancon, Tim Louderback and Benjamin McCord; ten great nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles and a host of special friends that he loved like family.

Preceding Kevin in death were his parents, Richard Louderback and Maxine Louderback, his grandparents, Lawson Dale Anderson Sr. and Louella Mae (Whitson) Anderson and Murel and Edna Louderback.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar, MO.

Inurnment will be at Prescott Cemetery in Prescott, Kansas.

Obituary - Eric M. Thomason

We regretfully announce the sudden passing of Eric Matthew Thomason, 23, of Holden, Missouri. Eric passed away on June 18th, due to a fatal vehicle accident.

Born September 27th, 1998 to Mark and Delight Thomason in Warrensburg, Missouri. 

Eric grew up with siblings Tyler Bruns and Riley Thomason on the family farm. He found a natural aptitude with mechanics and nature. Eric graduated from Holden High in 2017 and was known for being an excellent athlete and sportsman.

Eric Thomason would most often be described as both a kind, gentle person and the life of the party. Eric would describe himself as a jack of all trades master of none. First and foremost was his partnership with Bailey Lohe. 

Eric and Bailey were high school sweet hearts; and after dating for seven years, they married on July 10th, 2021. During their time together, they learned to navigate through life’s obstacles as they grew up. Eric was a skilled outdoorsman, often dedicating his time to introducing new hunters and fishers to nature on the farm. 

Eric could often be found training his Chocolate Labrador Ruger, they found joy in the yard as much as a duck blind. He was also a founding member of the Winged Obsession outdoor media group. Eric regularly enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working on a multitude of projects. One of those projects was the restoration of his father’s 1989 Chevrolet Silverado, with his dad, Mark. With all his hobbies spending time with family and friends was what he loved most. 

Whether it was swimming, watersports, hunting or just simply hanging out, Eric could always be found making someone’s day a bit more adventurous. Above all Eric would be known for his service before self. 

A dedicated member of Fire Dist. #2 Eric would leave his loved ones to save others and support his community. Eric’s impact extends beyond his family and friends. This loss will be felt community-wide and beyond.

Eric Thomason is survived by his loving wife Bailey Thomason: mother; Delight Thomason: mother and father in-law; Sara and Andy Lohe, sister-in-law Emma Lohe: siblings; Tyler Paul Bruns (Beccah), Riley Kate Thomason (Ethan Burton), and nieces: Luna and Violet Bruns and grandfather, Herb Thomason. Eric is preceded in death by his father Mark Lee Thomason and grandmother Margaret Ellen Thomason.

Nevada Police Department make arrest in sexual assault cases

Throughout May 2022 Nevada Police received reports in reference to incidents of sexual assault involving minors that had previously occurred over a period of time.

Nevada Police Officers investigated these cases in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Social Services - Children’s Division and the Children’s Center of Southwest Missouri - Nevada Office.

On June 23, 2022 Nevada Police took the known male suspect into custody and transported him to the Vernon County Jail for holding. The suspect has been identified as follows: James E. Monroe III, age 39 of Nevada.

On June 23, 2022 the following charges were filed against Monroe through the Vernon County Associate Court:

One (1) Count of Statutory Sodomy 1st Degree - Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less Than 14 Years Old - Unclassified Felony

One (1) Count of Statutory Sodomy/Attempt - Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less Than 14 Years Old - Aggravated Sexual Offense - Unclassified Felony

One (1) Count of Child Molestation 1st Degree - Class B Felony

Two (2) Counts of Sexual Misconduct Involving a Child Under 15 - Class E Felony

Mr. Monroe is being held in the Vernon County Jail without bond.
Citizens are encouraged to contact the police if they have any information that would be helpful to combat crime.

Obituary - Velma M. Russell

Velma M. Russell, age 91, of Butler, Missouri passed away Friday, June 17, 2022, at Medicalodge in Butler, Missouri. 

Velma was born May 26, 1931, the daughter of Noble and Margaret Hogan Christopher. She was united in marriage to Raymond “Bud” Diehl and to this union 8 children were born. Velma worked as a nurse aide for several years at Bates County Memorial Hospital and Medicalodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Debra McIntire; three grandsons, Seth Thomas, Logan Evans, and Christopher Beisly; one infant granddaughter; three brothers, Junior, Bill, and Raymond Christopher; two sisters, Daisy Christopher and Betty Spradley.

She is survived by one son, Larry Diehl and wife Connie of Rich Hill, Missouri; six daughters, Donna Diehl of Kansas City, Missouri, Jackie Fischer and husband Barry of Butler, Missouri, Patty Brittingham and husband Randy of Butler, Missouri, Cheryl Hamilton and husband Rob of Brandon, South Dakota, Shelly Thomas and husband Mitchell of Butler, Missouri, and Melissa Burt of Ft. White, Florida; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and one son-in-law, Jerry McIntire. Velma loved her children and grandchildren very much.

She will be missed by all

Obituary - Rosemary Irene Graves

Rosemary Irene Graves (Workman), 77, of Adrian, MO, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Bates County Memorial Hospital. Graveside Service will be on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, Missouri.

Rosemary was born November 9, 1944 to Charles and Ruby Marie (McDowell) Workman in Butler, Missouri. Her elementary years were spent in Mingo, MO in a one room school house and later went on to earn her diploma from Adrian High School. After high school, Rosemary married the love of her life, Jim Hart, and together they had three sons.

Rosemary retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 20 years of service. After retirement, she moved to Alabama to enjoy time with her son, Jason, and granddaughter, Kennedy. She returned to Bates County and spent her remaining years in the company of her best friend and sister, Jean. Rosemary enjoyed Amish bakeries, thrift stores, and the Osceola Cheese Factory. She loved many things, but her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Kennedy.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby, and her father, Charles. She is survived by her sons: Jason, Jimmy, and Jeff Hart; her sister, Jean Hastings; her granddaughter, Kennedy Hart; and many nieces and nephews.

The lives she touched is innumerable and she will be greatly missed.
