Obituary - Colleen Strange

Colleen Strange 85, of Butler, Missouri passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Cremation with graveside services pending at this time. 

Services under the direction of Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009). 

Memorial contributions are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Shiners Hospitals for Children. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.mullinaxfuneralhome.com.

Rita Colleen Strange was born November 20, 1936 in Butler, Missouri to Donald and Thelma Dickens Kisner. She was united in marriage to Dale Strange. They enjoyed 63 years together before his passing. Colleen was a proud member of the Order of Eastern Star, she dearly loved her family, and enjoyed sharing her talents of cooking and sewing. Colleen also had a passion for helping others.

Colleen was preceded in death by her husband Dale, parents, and numerous friends. She is survived by her sons, Lee Strange and wife Lena, Allen Strange and wife Jane, and Willard Eugene Strange. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Tasha, Vernon, Midori, and Matthew, along with many great-grandchildren and a brother Denver Kisner.

Butler man arrested in Bates County

On June 3rd around 1:50 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County arrested 43 year old Douglas K. Stone of Butler, Missouri.

Mr. Stone was arrested for the following charges 1.) Driving While Intoxicated 2.) Failure to maintain the right half of the roadway 3.)No Motorcycle License/Endorsement.

Douglas K. Stone was booked into the Bates County Jail in Butler and he was later cited with tickets and released.

El Dorado Springs man injured in St. Clair County rolllover accident

On July 1st around 2:20 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in St. Clair County along with St. Clair County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Route H around 8 miles southeast of Appleton City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2004 Chevrolet driven by 34 year old Jonathan S. Fannon of El Dorado Springs, Missouri traveled off the right side of the roadway in a curve, then returned to the roadway and overturned.

Mr. Fannon was taken to Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City for treatment of minor injuries.

Obituary -Naida M. Fenwick

Funeral Service for Naida will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

Minister will be Rev. Bob Fenwick

A visitation will also be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Interment will occur immediately following funeral services at Appleton City Cemetery in Appleton City, Missouri.

Naida Margaret (Frasure) was the second daughter born to Rollian Smith and Maggie Leona (Garrison) Frasure near Corbin, Missouri, on February 10, 1924. She passed away July 1, 2022, at the age of 98.

She attended Washington Rural School and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1941. Following her graduation, she attended summer school at Southwest Baptist College, Bolivar, Missouri, then taught at Square Prairie Rural School near Osceola at the age of 17. She taught at several one room schools in the area. She continued to teach while obtaining her Bachelor and Master’s degrees through Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Missouri.

In 1949, she was united in marriage to Eugene Murray Fenwick. To this union one son, Gavin was born.

After thirty-five years in the education field, she retired from Miami R-1 school in Bates County. She then became involved in many organizations serving in several leadership roles with Hospice, American Cancer Society, R.E.A., Round Up Board, Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher’s Sorority, and the Retired Teachers Association.

Naida was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James R. Frasure, and sisters Mary Lou Wishard, Thelma Wyatt, and Wanda Frost. She is survived by son Gavin and his wife Sherri of Clinton, Missouri; three grandchildren, Christopher Fenwick (Liz) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Cayton Fenwick (Tierney) of Overland Park, Kansas, and Maggie (Fenwick) Schacher (Colter) of Harrisonville, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Caroline, Liam, and Gracelyn Fenwick and one great granddaughter, Beth Schacher arriving soon.

Country Star Joe Nichols puts on great show in Rich Hill

The crowd packed in tonight at 8pm to listen to country music star Joe Nichols sing his hit songs at West Park in Rich Hill.

Joe had the crowd excited and having a great time. Joe has been a mainstay in country music for over two decades with six #1 singles, 10 Top 10 hits, such as "Gimmie That Girl", "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off", and "Yeah".

Shooting Investigation in Butler

On July 2nd around 5:30 p.m. the Butler Police Department along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies, Bates County EMS and Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers responded to a report of a shooting at 301 E. Pleasant Street in Butler.

When officers arrived on scene they made contact with a male party who had been shot in the arm with a 20 Gauge Shotgun loaded with bird shot. 

Officers took one person into custody at the scene and the victim who was shot received medical treatment at the a scene of this incident.

The scene is now secure and this was a incident between two people no one else is involved and the public is safe at this hour.

Public Service Announcement from BL & Sons Disposal

As you head to the festivities tonight in Rich Hill  please remember all the hard work the committee puts in to provide this "Famous for the Fourth celebration". 

Take just a second out of your celebrating to thank one or All of those that make this festival happen.

Please do your part to lesson the work by helping to clean up by utilizing the trash barrels located through out the midway as well as in and around the park, in addition to the barrels, located just south of the East entrance to the park there are two large BL and sons Dumpsters and North of the entrance you will find a 3rd large BL and sons Dumpster to dispose of your refuge.

We at BL and Sons Disposal hope everyone has a safe and fun Fourth of July.
