Stay Heat Safe this 4th of July

As 4th of July activities start heating up, so will the temperatures. Make sure you and your family stay heat safe for all the fun events this 4th.

Monday and Tuesday temperatures will be in the 90s with heat indices between 100-110°.


Obituary - William Jeffrey “Jeff” Stewart

William Jeffrey “Jeff” Stewart, 62, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Tuesday evening, June 28, 2022 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born October 10, 1959 in Oswego, Ks., the son of William Francis Stewart and Mary Margaret (Paynter) Stewart.
Jeff most recently worked for the family business, Stewart Trash Service. He had also worked for Tracker Marine and Tyson. Surviving are his mother, Mary Stewart, Clinton, Mo.; two sisters, Karen Williams and Sherry Stewart, both of Clinton, Mo.; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his father and brother in law, Mike Williams. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at the Deepwater Cemetery, Deepwater, Mo. Services are under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Jeff Stewart Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home. Situation this morning in Louisburg Kansas

Today, July 3rd 2022, the Louisburg Police Department with the assistance of the Louisburg Fire Department, Miami County Sheriff's Office and Miami County EMS were called upon to locate the family members of a young boy who had wandered away from his uncle's home.

The young boy, a four year old from Belton, Missouri was in Louisburg spending time with his uncle, when he managed to walk away from the home. He was found by some concerned citizen's near N. 14th Street and Metcalf Road, who contacted the Police.

Since the boy was not from Louisburg, he was unfamiliar with his uncle's address and could not guide the Police or Deputies who had arrived to assist back to his uncle's home. Additional first responders from Louisburg Fire Department arrived to assist, and after checking with numerous residences in the vicinity, the boys family was eventually located.

The young boy was checked by Miami County EMS to make sure he was okay, and he was eventually turned over to his Father who responded from Belton, MO to pick him up.

The Louisburg Police Department would like to thank the Louisburg Fire Department, Miami County Sheriff's Office, Miami County EMS and the community members who helped get this young boy back with his family. Thank You!

Obituary - Doris Jane (Whitchurch) White

Doris Jane (Whitchurch) White, age 90, of Clinton, Missouri, passed away, Saturday July 2nd 2022 at the Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, Missouri.

A Celebration of Jane's Life will be held Friday July 8th, 2022 at the Clinton Elk's Lodge, beginning at 1:00 PM. Inurnment will be held at a later date

in the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Henry County Historical Society and can be left in care

of the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.

Fatality motorcycle accident in Barton County near Sheldon

On June 2nd around 7:40 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Barton County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a motorcycle accident in the southbound lanes of I-49 around 2 miles south of the Sheldon Exit.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1998 Harley Davidson Ultra Glide driven by 57 year old Wayne E. Sprenkle of Jasper, Missouri swerved to avoid striking a item in the roadway, lost control and overturned, ejection the rider.

Wayne E. Sprenkle was pronounced dead at the scene of this accident and he was transported to Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar.

This is Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 50th fatality of this year.

Obituary - Glenda Sue McElroy

Glenda Sue McElroy, age 86, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022. She is survived by two daughters, Robin Dye(Joel), and Shannon Bjerke(Kirk), and one sister, Martha Beshore. No services are scheduled.

The weak ahead weather wise

The good news is that it looks dry for most folks today. An isolated storms can't be ruled out though, mainly south of I-70. The bad news is that it's going to become hot and humid this week. 

We're talking mid and upper 90 degree highs with heat index values in the 100-110 range through much of the work week.


Obituary - Anthony Lee Miller

Anthony Lee Miller, age 64, Linn Valley, Kansas passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 20, 1957. He was a truck driver working mostly for Kincaid Ready Mix. He was united in marriage to Janet Strong on October 31, 2010.

He and Janet enjoyed spending time at the shooting range. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William Ormsby and a sister, Brenda Ormsby. Anthony is survived by his wife Janet.
