City of Nevada keeps growing!

Last year the City of Nevada Parks Board submitted a five year plan to the City Council. Three suggestions from our list have been selected by the Community Foundation, and in partnership with the City, fundraising will begin to create courts for three sports: basketball, tennis, and pickleball. We are so excited to see these park amenities come to fruition so soon!

This is a $1,000,000 project in total! Funds will be raised from donations and grants to a special fund established by the Community Foundation, and the City is providing the lots and park space. Here is where the new courts will be located:

1. A new park where the old Baptist Church stood will be the future home of eight pickleball courts. Along with disc golf, pickleball is a fast growing sport and also like disc golf, it can be played by all ages and agilities. There will be eight courts which will also allow us to host tournaments and bring visitors to our community. Three of the courts will be ADA compliant to accommodate wheelchairs.

2. At McHugh Field in Walton Park (currently a soccer field) we will be creating a new recreation center with four tennis courts and two full sized basketball courts.

Way to go!

Conservative Rick Brattin Announces CPAC Endorsement

(HARRISONVILLE, MO) – Conservative State Senator Rick Brattin, candidate for the Republican nomination in the Fourth Congressional District, announced today that he has received the endorsement of CPAC, the political action committee of the American Conservative Union. His campaign had previously announced endorsements from Missouri Right to Life PAC and FreedomWorks.

“I am honored to have the support of CPAC, one of America’s preeminent conservative political committees. I believe that in order to reverse the damage done by Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi, we have to send proven conservatives to Congress. That is the only way to get America back on the right track and ensure our values and fundamental rights are protected,” said Rick Brattin.

Announcing the endorsement, CPAC wrote, “In the Missouri legislature Rick Brattin has been a consistent conservative voice with a lifetime 90% rating. He has led the charge on fighting illegal immigration, defending election security, and protecting life. CPAC is proud to endorse Rick Brattin for (MO-4).”

Rick grew up in Greenwood, graduated from Lee’s Summit High School, and lives in Harrisonville with his wife and five children. Faith takes a central role in the Brattin family’s life, and they are members of Abundant Life.

Public service has always been important to Rick. He served for six years as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Marine Corps, four terms in the Missouri House of Representatives (where he co-founded the House Conservative Caucus), and was Cass County Auditor before being elected to the State Senate. In addition to owning a small construction company, Rick also operates a 40-acre farm north of Harrisonville.
