$71 million dollar widening project getting started on I-49 in Cass County
Thank you, Cass County citizens for your support! Your voices were heard. The Missouri Highway Commission has approved $71 million to widen I-49 to six lanes from 155th Street to North Cass Parkway. Work is anticipated to begin July 2024.
Obituary - Kathleen Louise Becker
Kathleen Louise Becker, 78, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Golden Years Center for Rehab and Healthcare in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Services are still pending and a complete obituary will be posted when it is available.
Liberty Utilities Central has issued a peak advisory
Attention Liberty electric customers: We’re requesting your help. Liberty has issued a peak advisory for all Liberty electric customers for Thursday and Friday, July 7 and 8, due to ongoing extreme heat resulting in high energy demand.
- Set thermostats to 78 degrees or as high as comfortable. Please note: Customers who are elderly or have medical conditions complicated by the heat should not raise their thermostat.
- Postpone heat-producing energy use such as cooking and using your washing machine, electric dryer, or dishwasher.
- Turn off and unplug fans, computers, monitors, chargers, printers, and televisions during periods of non-use.
- Turn off nonessential lights.
- Postpone all nonessential energy use.

Traffic Alert: Two vehicle accident in Butler
The Butler Police Department along with Butler Fire and Bates County EMS is on scene of a two vehicle accident involving a 2009 Chevrolet and a semi truck from the state of Minnesota at Fran Avenue and Ft. Scott Street at this time.
No one is said to be injured in this accident but please use caution if you must travel in this area and always move over for emergency vehicles.

Butler Youth Football Sign Ups will be Thursday July 7 6:00pm-8:00pm and Tuesday July 12 6:00-8:00pm at the red shed by the flag football field. 1st & 2nd grade is flag $50, 3rd/4th Tackle $100, 5th/6th Tackle $100.
A parent or legal guardian will need to sign them up as there are waivers that will need signed.

Obituary - Larry F. Garrison
Larry Floyd Garrison, age 72, of Warsaw, Missouri passed away Monday, June 13, 2022 at his home in Warsaw, Missouri. He was born on October 10, 1949 at Carrollton, Missouri the son of Charles Leroy and Leona August Kornexl Garrison. He grew up in Bosworth, Missouri and graduated from Bosworth Public School.
Larry served in the US Navy from 1968 until 1970 with an honorable discharge from Moffett Field, San Diego, California. He was in the reserves until September 24, 1974. In 1969 Larry began working for Santa Fe Railroad until he became disabled in 1993.
Larry enjoyed fishing and deer hunting until his health kept him from deer hunting. The last day of his life he went fishing for 4 hours and caught one catfish which he released. Larry was proud of himself because he quit smoking in the early 1970’s after smoking since he was 12 years old.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Lynn Walker Garrison, his parents, Charles and Leona Garrison and a brother, Charles Leroy Garrison, Jr.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Tanya Fletcher and son Stephen Garrison of Warsaw, Missouri, eight grandchildren, one brother, Joe Garrison and wife Pam of Topeka, Kansas, two sisters, Rosemary McMahan and husband Bill of Warsaw, Missouri, Betty Blanton of Hiawatha, Kansas. Larry has several surviving nephews and nieces. Larry has many friends who will miss his friendly nature. He never met a stranger.
Graveside services will be held later at McCollough Cemetery, Triplett, Missouri. Cremation by Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, Missouri. Donations can be made to help with funeral expenses. Any funds left over will be given to the McCollough Cemetery Association.
