*Starting pay $40,560.00 year($19.50 hrs)
*CERF retirement with portion matched by county

Obituary - Jeffery Chris Brown

Jeffery Chris Brown, age 68, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022.

In accordance with Jeff’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.

Jeff was born in Wichita, Kansas on February 28, 1954 to Wilber and Elizabeth “Betty” Brown. After graduating high school, Jeff continued his education briefly before his work with KCP&L as a in ground lineman. 

Jeff worked for over twenty years for KCP& L and during those years, also owned his own home remodeling company. He retired from Operating Engineers Local 101 after being an Operator for over twenty years. In life, Jeff was passionate about his family, including his canine companions, Jetta, Lexi, Willie, and Shadow. 

He was also an avid collector of different items such as coins, stamps, and marbles. Jeff would also love to spend his free time fishing.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Wilber and Betty Brown.

He is survived by his loving wife of over twenty five years, Brenda Brown; his three children, Jeremy Brown (Sally), Linsey Klinksick (Chad), and Keith Brown (Maria); and two grandchildren, Lane Brown and Kody Yohe.

New Sex Offender registered in Bates County

David Guffey (DOB 8/18/1974) registered as a sex offender today in Bates County.

Mr. Guffey was convicted of Statutory Sodomy in the 2nd Degree on 11/24/2014 in Cass County, MO.

He is residing at 14127 NW County Road 221 in Adrian, MO. Guffey is classified as a Tier 3 sex offender.

Amoret man arrested on several warrants

On 7/9/2022 Bates County Sheriff Deputies went to 14013 NW Cr 3002 Amoret Mo in reference to locating a subject that had outstanding warrants. 

On arrival the deputies located the subject sleeping in the front seat of his car in the driveway.

Deputies took the subject, identified as Timothy Clark Pitts II, into custody on the following outstanding warrants for failing to appear.

Obituary - Cora Smith

Cora Smith 52, of Butler, Missouri passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. 

A visitation will be held 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Friday, July 15, 2022 at Mullinax Funeral Home, Butler (660-679-0009). 

Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm Friday, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler.

Obituary - Kyle Foster

Kyle Foster, age 36, of Deepwater, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, July 18, 2022 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton, Missouri. 

A funeral service for Kyle will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 also at the Chapel.
