Follow your dreams life coach

I've had a very busy few couple of months. In May I was presented with the opportunity to consider renting an office space, effective June 1st. It took some doing and God opening doors but on June 1st I paid my first month's rent.

I'm renting an office space at 7 W Dakota St, Butler, MO. I can still coach online and via phone, but it's great to have an office for those who want to meet in person!

July 1st I joined the Butler Chamber of Commerce and I'm pleased to announce there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for my business on Wednesday July 20th at 2 pm.

On July 14th around 1:30 p.m. the Nevada Fire Department responded to 821 W. Walnut for a report of a house filling with smoke.

When fire crews arrived on scene, we found single story wood frame structure with smoke coming from a window on the west side.

Interior crews found the fire and made a quick knock down, fire was confined to a closet in a bedroom, with smoke damage throughout the structure.

One person was home at the time of the fire and was able to escape with no injuries. Due to the heat mutual aid was requested from Milo and Compton Junction Fire Departments.

Both departments were disregarded Thank you to both departments. Fire cause is undetermined at this time.

Roadwork in Henry County set to begin July 18th

The Henry County Route N bridge over East Fork Honey Creek north of #Clinton will be CLOSED for up to 30 days for rehabilitation work starting the week of July 18th.

Contractor crews will remove the expansion joints on the bridge deck/driving surface and replace them with a high-strength concrete to prevent water, salt and other elements from doing further damage to the bridge. Expansion joints allow the concrete to expand and contract with changes in the weather.

Weather and/or scheduling delays will alter the work schedule.

Obituary - Norman Wayne Church

Norman Wayne Church was born in Clinton, MO, December 16, 1928, the son of Wade Carlton and Blanche Mae (Murphy) Church. He died on July 13, 2022. On May 2, 1953, he married Irene Hammons. They had three children: one son Wayne and two daughters Donna and Lisa.
Almost all of Norman’s life was spent in Clinton except for four years he served in the United States Army as a member of the 807th Engineer Battalion. Twenty-seven months of this time was spent in Fairbanks, Alaska, maintaining machinery that was being used to build airfields. After returning from the service Norman worked in the law enforcement field in Henry County for three years and one year as a member of the Kansas City Police Department.

In 1962 he became a member of Operating Engineers Local 101 and was an active member for 28 years. Norman was truly a master at his trade. He worked as a heavy equipment welder and mechanic. Through this employment he worked on many projects, including building Whitman Air Force Base, a missile complex covering several counties, many new highways, Longview Lake and several years on Truman Dam.

He retired from Local 101 in 1991 and would then operate his own welding business until he was 89 years old. He appreciated being able to still do what he enjoyed. His ornamental iron workmanship is enjoyed by family and many members of the Clinton community. Norman was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church and later attended the First Baptist Church with his family. Norman enjoyed travelling, especially to places of history. Reading was a great past time for him after retirement as well as sitting on his patio enjoying the outdoors, visiting with family and neighbors, enjoying a cup of coffee, and watching birds and various wildlife pass by. He had a love of music and will be remembered by family as a fine dancer.

His children, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren were very important to him. He enjoyed following their many activities. They respected how hard he worked to provide for them and were blessed by his kindness, generosity, and words of wisdom. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Irene (Hammons) Church, two daughters, Donna Witman (Bob) and children Vance (SarahAnne) and Drew (Chelsea); Lisa Whyte (Kris) and children Cole (Ashlee) and Cassidy (fiancĂ© Nathan); and daughter-in-law Vicky Church and children Sarah Austin (Chris) and Jacob (Brandi); eight great-grandchildren: Vance, Yates and Emmett Witman, Emry and Staley Robinson, Elijah Austin and Livie and Lexon Church and Semiyah, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne, parents, and siblings Julian, Jack, Babe, and Wanda Wilson. The family would like to especially thank the very caring nursing staff at Redwood of Raymore and Shalom Hospice, neighbors Marsha and David Evans, and nieces Vickie Figg and Pattie Johnson for all their kind, helpful and loving support of the family. Funeral service will be held at Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home on Monday, July 18, 2022 with visitation at 10:00 a.m., and service immediately following at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Dr. Randy Shipman. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery immediately following the service. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or a charity of choice. These donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
