Heritage Day at Mine Creek Battlefield State Historical Site in Pleasanton, Kansas

Just a reminder that Heritage Day at Mine Creek Battlefield State Historical Site in Pleasanton, Kansas will be held on Saturday, August 6th.

The Mine Creek Battlefield State Historic Site, located 2.5 miles southwest of Pleasanton and commemorates the Battle of Mine Creek in the American Civil War.

2022 Bates County Relay for life event held tonight

Relay for life event shines in Adrian:

The 2022 Bates County Relay for life event held was tonight at the Adrian Optimist Building. Several vendors were set up and a auction was held by Wade's Auction Service of Appleton City.

The entertainment for the evening was "Senior Discount" who played some good tunes and kept the crowd up beat.

Obituary - Mary Ann Fredrickson

Mary Ann Fredrickson, 64, of Harrisonville, MO, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 29, 2022 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Memorial Services will be on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 5:30 PM at Manna Fellowship Church in Pleasant Hill, with the visitation beginning at 4:00 PM.

Mary was born October 19, 1957 to Joe L. and Anna Mae (Hills) Nichols in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Hickman Mills High School. After high school, she married Charles "Charlie" Fredrickson on September 12, 1981. To this union, they had two sons, Jacob and Caleb. They made their home in Harrisonville in 1994, after living in Pleasant Hill and Kansas City for short periods of time. She owned and operated her own daycare, caring for almost 60 children over her 26 years in business.

Mary was a member of Manna Fellowship Church in Pleasant Hill. She enjoyed watching old 50s and 60s TV shows, traveling with her family especially to the beach, and connecting with her friends. She was the type of person that always thought of others before her self and would help whenever she could. Mary will leave a lasting impression on everyone she met and is already dearly missed.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joe Nichols, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Charlie; her sons: Jacob and Caleb Fredrickson; her sister, Kathy (Bryan) Wyldes; her two brothers: Jim Nichols and John Nichols; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Scattered showers winding down this afternoon

Looks like a nice day today across northern Missouri and NE Kansas where you all are enjoying mostly sunny skies and temps in the lower 80s.

Further south, still a decent day as scattered showers are winding down south of the MO River with temps in the lower to mid 70s under mostly cloudy skies. Another nice day in store tomorrow before 90° temps return Monday.


Obituary - Billy Lee Kammerich

Bill Lee Kammerich, 68, of Clinton Missouri was born Feb 20th 1954. He passed away early Friday morning July 29th of 2022 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence Mo.
He is survived by his Daughter Billie J. McCown, grandsons Kameron D. McCraw, Kaleb S. McCraw, Kaden L. McCraw and granddaughters Trinity J. McCown and Beretta P. McCown He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha A. Goodman and father, Vernon L. Goodman of Kansas City Mo. In Bill’s early years he serviced the City of Clinton when working for his Uncle Bill Stewart and Aunt Mary Stewart at Stewart Trash service of Clinton, Mo. He then went on to cleaning high-rise windows for Might T Bright Window Cleaning of Kanas City Mo, where he proudly serviced Kansas City for 15 years.

During his high-rise window cleaning career he was published on the front page of the Kanas City Star for his fearless work on city skyscrapers of downtown Kanas City, Mo. Bill’s passions in life were being a father to his daughter, spending time with his dogs, fishing, hunting, and enjoying the outdoors. Mr. Kammerich is being cremated under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Condolences may be left online at www.bradleyhadley.com.

Northbound I-49 slowed due to stalled semi truck

The northbound lanes of I-49 is slow at this time due to a semi truck that is stalled in the fast lane of traffic around mile marker 144 between Adrian and Archie.
