Obituary - Nancy Ann Kimble

Nancy Ann Kimble, age 83, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. 

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. followed immediately by a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. Nancy will be laid to rest next to her husband in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, Missouri.

Nancy was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 3, 1939 to Edgar and Cleo Moody. At the age of five she moved with her family to Kansas City where she grew up. 

She graduated from Center High School in 1957. Nancy worked at Allstate Insurance Company and Hallmark Cards as a keypunch operator and office worker. During those years she enjoyed traveling with friends as often as possible. 

Nancy was united in marriage to Jack Kimble on April 22, 1972. They raised their family in Adrian, Missouri and she became a full-time homemaker. The family enjoyed traveling and seeing sites around the country, usually camping along the way.

Nancy professed her faith in Jesus Christ in 1972 and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Adrian. Her faith in God sustained her through the ups and downs of life. In life, nothing meant more to Nancy than her children and grandchildren. 

She loved spending time with her family more than anything. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, decorating her home and watching classic movies. Nancy was an excellent cook, and especially loved to bake sweets for her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jack Kimble; parents, Edgar and Cleo Moody; three brothers, Tom Moody and wife Cecelia, Bob Moody, and Donald Moody and wife Jean; sister-in-law, Lynn Moody and brother-in-law, Ron Durbin.

She is survived by her daughter, Michele Fairman (Darryl) and their children, Brooks Fairman (Emilee), McKenzie Harms (Jacob) and their son Jack, and Jace Fairman; stepson, Phillip Kimble (Brenda) and their children, Ericka Lee Mitzner (Tim) and their children, Adam Mitzner and Jett Moore, Jon Helgerud II (Shannon) and their children, Azalea and Archer Helgerud, and Krystal Kimble; brother, Mike Moody; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Obituary - Clifford Eugene Carpenter

Clifford Eugene Carpenter, age 66, resident of Liberty, MO, died Friday, August 19, 2022, at Liberty Health and Wellness Nursing Home in Liberty, MO. He was born March 12, 1956, in Ft. Scott, KS, the son of Chester and Betty Dixon Carpenter. 

Clifford retired from Hallmark Greeting Card Distribution Center in Liberty, where he worked as a forklift operator. He greatly enjoyed treasure hunting at flea markets and dealing with antiques in his spare time.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Carpenter, Lamar, MO; 3 brothers, David Carpenter and wife Teresa, Jasper, MO, Norman Carpenter and wife Tonya, Ft. Scott, KS, and Carl Carpenter, Kansas City; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in by his father.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 24, 2022, in the Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main St., Ft. Scott, KS 66701. Words of remembrance may be submitted to the online guestbook at cheneywitt.com.

Moreland to be honored at Missouri State Fair

The 2022 Missouri State Fair will be celebrating the men and women who have served, or are currently serving our country at the daily Military Flag Retreat Ceremony, sponsored by Capital Materials, Retrieving Freedom, Inc., and Starline Brass.

A total of 11 veterans or active duty service members from Missouri were selected from nominations received across the state to be honored in a Military Flag Retreat ceremony.

The event will take place daily in front of the Missouri State Fair Historic Administration Building.

16 year old male injured in Cass County rollover accident

On August 20th around 7:56 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle accident on Route D just north of E 281st in rural Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway says the accident occurred when the northbound 2019 GMC Terrain driven by a 16 year old male juvenile from Cleveland, Missouri traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned.

The juvenile male sustained minor injuries and he was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Obituary - Michael Jason Carleton

Michael Jason Carleton, 41, Harrisonville, MO passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. 

The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00pm Saturday at the Funeral Home. A complete obituary will be added when it becomes available.

Blackhawks Wrestling Bingo Night set for September 10th

Blackhawk Wrestling Family and Friends we would like to invite you to our first fundraiser of the season. 

On Saturday September 10th at 6pm we will be hosting our Bingo Night at the Adrian HS/MS commons. 

There will be plenty of chances to win prizes throughout the night. It should be a fun night and I hope to see a lot of you there.


From the Harrisonville Police Department

On August 20, 2022, at approximately 5:00 pm, officers responded to the Outdoor Pool in reference to an activated panic alarm.
 
Once on scene, officers determined that the scene was safe and that an emergency did not exist. At that time, the pool was opened back up.

Ladies Night Out in Butler set for November 21st

The Butler Chamber of Commerce will have a list of all participating businesses to distribute for all the lovelies who want to enjoy a night of fun.
